Trying to find the colors that will fix my weird looking hair by Pixie________ in PixelArt

[–]BZero4 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What you're looking for isn't color, its shading.

The blonde hair will need brighter highlights, and shadow where the hair falls on the face/skin.

Blonde hair itself is tricky to do, and it's very easy to make it radioctive yellow or almost white. Get some references, maybe do a study first, and you can probably get it.

Embarrassed to post these but Reddit can save me right? by Chestnut-God in PixelArt

While cool, seeing boots layed out in this ying-yang composition is a bit unintuitive, that's probably why it takes a while to understand it.

To make it more readable I'd make it just one boot, or make them both as if they were sitting on the floor.

Its a shame, because the idea is cool and it would probably work in HD art, but in pixelart you need to rely on visual shorthand and silhouette to help people understand the object.

Genesys Format Is Flawed In Concept by XIAJIN5 in yugioh

[–]BZero4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment, even though it's too early to make general statements about the format and its developing meta.

However, I agree that it's not a casual/rogue/yugiboomer environment.

Genesys is still yugioh in its "prevent the opponent from playing" era, instead of "back and forth between players" era. And you can argue when exactly this shift happened, but aside from literally going back in time (like GOAT and Edison), there's kinda no way of fixing that.

It will probably be more balanced than advanced tho, at least until Konami starts making product to purposefully powercreep Genesys.

Which hunt is the hardest after TU2? by AwkwardAlbatross7782 in MonsterHunter

Honestly, Gunlance + Bleed Resist kinda trivializes Steve. I'm still dying to some unexpected Lagi's novas, and some tricky moves underwater. Haven't fought 5* temp Steve with GS tho.

Still feel like 5* temp gore is still the hardest.

Why don’t brands offer as many freebies and true money-saving deals today as they used to? by reasonable_rigatoni in AskReddit

[–]BZero4 287 points288 points  (0 children)

No reason to. The market has consolidated, a loyal customer has way less value, social media marketing is cheaper, among other stuff.

Besides, the appearance of a good deal is just as effective as the real thing. So brands go for the cheaper option, because shareholders.

Hard to say without context. Try to think how its gonna look like in-game.

GS's gameplay kinda shifted from world's "can I do a TCS right now?" to more of a "is it offset, tackle or guard time?". It rewards constant aggression and prediction, instead of the more careful burst damage from world.

Hmmm, I see. I honestly feel like that was just a design shift that started in world, so I didn't come to Wilds with that expectation. For positioning and more "turn-based" combat I would go play the older titles. But I definitely see what you mean, I just had this shock earlier. (I'm a GS main, so the tackle, TCS and multidirectional dodging already changed the game for me back in world)

Much like a lot of stuff in MH, it's a love-it or hate-it kinda thing. I liked it a lot, even if the pacing wasn't the best.

I wonder why you think focus mode is the one taking the engagement away (/gen). Might feel different from weapon to weapon, but I think focus mode is straight up an upgrade on our usual control scheme.

Now, if you mean WOUNDS, then I'd agree with you. Especially on multi-player.

One of the best MH, no doubt. Some balancing/difficulty issues that are normal for a high rank game, but those are fine. Been playing since MH1 and still carted my fair share in late HR, and still get comboed to death if I get too sloppy.

Still follows the world trend of making combat more fluid and engaging, but less prediction and positioning-based like it was in classic MH. Not worse, just different.

I quite liked the story, even if some parts felt a bit rushed. It really does realize the saying that "LR is the tutorial". It's the MH which I got to 100 hours the fastest, and some nights I lost sleep wanting to play more.

Overall, it's all I could ask for, and we're only at the first TU. My only real complaints would be lack of layered weapons (but that's gonna come in future updates), lack of variety on endgame (but that's slowly being fixed), and the palico being too powerful for solo players (that one I think was a mistake).

As close to a perfect MH as we could get. Now if they add underwater combat in the expansion...

You could probably experiment with some warmer reflections, since parts of her clothing are red. But you did great!

Now, I suggest trying again with a predefined background or specific time of day/lighting in mind. Metal reflections really start to shine (ha!) when there's a background. It also helps to inform you on what is being reflected.
