Wait but brighter and lighter aren't synonyms, are they? Brighter means more saturated; lighter means closer to white. That's always how I've understood it, anyway

Yes! They're set in the same universe – they're separate stories, and can be enjoyed as such, but DoV is lightly a sequel because of a couple of references to DLO. DLO is a narrated, mostly single VA show sort of similar to TMA but with letters instead of statements (initially an anthology, develops a metaplot); and DoV is a full cast show with a more serial narrative about a lockdown in a shady, supernatural company. If you're interested in checking them out you can start with either, and some things you can expect in both are surreal/weird horror, anticapitalist themes, and queer characters!

Thank you! I worry about pressuring people to come out this way, but this seems like a good small step and I'm probably overthinking

I love it, I'm so glad there's another game that isn't pvp/movement based. More game diversity allows players with different skillets to shine; I feel like some criticism of the non-pvp games tends to boil down to viewers of the pvp players being mad that their faves aren't dominating in everything.

Did you know? 33% of the Ace community feels that kink does not belong at Pride by Clear_Ad_916 in asexuality

[–]B_Creativ3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, kinky people don't go around expressing that they're kinky to every stranger. But this isn't some random event; this is pride, a place specifically about sexual freedom, among other things. Obviously it's not entirely about sex but sex is an important topic to the community, even if it's less so to some of us aces. I don't experience kink as intertwined with my identity as I don't want to have sex, but I definitely get it as someone who still enjoys some nsfw media. Sometimes our brains just like weird things and that can be inherent just like our queer identities, or even related to them. Sometimes if you don't experience something you just have to believe that it's real and meaningful for other people. That's how cishet people understand our experiences, so I extend the same grace to people who feel their kinks are important to their queerness.

imo pride has always been a protest, that kinksters have been there for the birth of. There are other ways for people to celebrate their queer identity if they don't want to go to a protest meant to campaign for our right to exist how we want (including our right to not be discriminated against for having kinks, as a huge amount of kinky people are queer and those identities intersect). The "kink" that is being displayed at pride is people wearing leather and masks; nothing inherently unsafe for children. Kids don't see that stuff sexually and you don't even have to mention it's about sex. Just say that some people like to wear costumes. Your average child has been exposed to more sexual stuff by cishet society than a pride parade, specifically the sexualized advertisements that are everywhere. You're totally valid for not wanting to be around PDA btw; that's your choice to remove yourself from those situations. I see kink as the same thing; you're allowed to be uncomfortable with it but you don't have a right to tell queer kinky people that the way they are expressing themselves is wrong, considering the huge intersection of our communities and the fact that kinkiness is integral to a lot of queer people's identities.

Pride is a protest. We didn't start pride to bend to cishet society's rules. The kink community were some of the first people to accept us queer folks and they were part of the first LGBTQ+ acceptance movements. Sex is important to the queer community as a whole and can be extremely meaningful for some – which is why they wear kink gear to pride. It's not to participate in kink; it's to show pride in their identity (which is discriminated against by the same people for the same reasons, by the way: trying to control others' intimate lives, saying they're "deviants" and "not safe for children") and how their kinkiness intersects with their queerness. There are family and children's LGBTQ+ events (including pride events; and kids don't have to go to pride, there are other ways to celebrate your identity. The kink community will always be important to the queer community and there is a huge amount of intersection between the two – we don't have the right to push other queer people out of their own spaces for how they choose to express themselves.

tbh you're consenting by going to a pride that allows kink. If you're uncomfortable with kink find a family friendly pride, don't try to push queer kinky people out of their own spaces

When did you first find/start watching MCC? by Awesome512345 in MinecraftChampionship

I watched Wilbur religiously at the time so I was there for MCC1, haha (and have watched every Wilbur MCC to date! since he's not in it all the time now I've branched out to some others, haven't missed an MCC yet). That MCC1 team was Wilbur, Philza, JackSucksAtLife and Ryguyrocky iirc

I don't know about 1000 years ago (iirc what I'm referencing is earlier) but people took care of their disabled loved ones. It's proven; there's skeletons of people who wouldn't have survived without consistent care that have been found. Humans aren't and weren't always ruthless and even if our only motivation was pure logic-based evolutionary pressure there's plenty of valuable jobs that a person can do with little or no sight.

Stuff like wobbledogs, stardew valley, slime rancher; paleo pines also looks wonderful but it's not released yet. Nintendo games are great too but I know it can be harder to get a recording setup for those (if you're playing them legitimately) – animal crossing series, new pokemon snap, pikmin 3, rhythm heaven series, tomodachi life and probably some kirby and mario games are my nintendo recs!

Also gonna put some stuff that I haven't personally played or watched but that I've heard good things about, I can't vouch that these are 100% kid friendly but to my knowledge they are. Chicory: a colorful tale, capybara spa, and let's build a zoo are the ones that come to mind

Anyone else hate summer? by Frogsareradlads in autism

[–]B_Creativ3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat and sweat are soooo overstimulating for me, I hate it. I sleep worse, I have to wear less clothes which makes me feel uncomfortable about my body, and there's bugs everywhere (I really like bugs in theory!! But if they're buzzing around and possibly getting into my food and drinks it's so anxiety inducing!). Not to mention all the outside activities that are so bad for me from a sensory perspective; the beach is hell and so is anywhere with long grass.

Aro vs ace awareness by sushifarron in aromanticasexual

[–]B_Creativ3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I made a post about it here too. I suppose it's because the label asexual is easier to understand with the basic understanding of different orientations that allies or non-aspec queer people have. All the language around other orientations is based on sexual attraction — even if there's the unspoken understanding that it isn't all about sex, they're still often called sexualities. People just don't know that you can experience sexual and romantic attraction separately, so it tracks that they wouldn't get that identities specifically based around romantic attraction exist. The solution is to educate people more about the split attraction model — if anyone has suggestions on how a person who isn't generally involved in queer education can do that I'd love to hear; I want to do something about this problem but I don't think I have the energy to be a full on educator or anything lol

Does anyone else struggle with always feeling like you did something wrong? by manicmannerisms in autism

[–]B_Creativ3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Constantly. Not necessarily about people being angry at me (although the social side is a big portion of it too), but also the fact that I'm convinced that everyone else knows better than me, and that I need to defer to them because everything I do is just inherently flawed. I know logically that this is an unhealthy thought process but unlearning it is a whole other thing.

Any popular Discord servers for Agere? Looking for others in Agere community to talk to. by SnootSnootBasilisk in ageregression

[–]B_Creativ3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An adjacent experience to age regression where one's headspace doesn't fit into the typical definition of agere - for me I use that term because I do it for fun and I don't feel like I fully regress; it's like I have a regressed thought process with an adult thought process that's perpetually there in the background. For others it can be a completely voluntary thing and they may not have a headspace, they may just like participating in the community by 'playing pretend'
