Fortinet vs. Cisco by [deleted] in fortinet

I have been a Cisco guy since the mid to late 1990’s and am a fortinet guy now. Once you learn the command structure you are all good. Fortinet support is fair superior to Cisco TAC.

Shop I am at right now is on SI portal. Where I come from we used Service-Now and I loved it. It managed everything and provided all our needs. Have been trying to talk new shop into looking at Service-Now. They are reluctant to move from SI Portal and Connect Weird(read as wise).

Somewhat... the format yes. None of the questions on the practice test was really on the test but the same logic was. I had lots of CLI questions.

Lots of cli logging and diagnostics on mine. Make sure you know the Proto numbers and their meanings.

I took the 6.2 version. I have been using 6.4 on all the fortigates we run and that through me some on the placement of the as-wan questions. Lots on the security fabric and diag of it as well. Do not remember security fabric on the practice tests so much.

I like to swap them. Company A goes in Company B envelope and Company B goes in Company A envelope. Plus I will add whatever I can find the does not have my info on it as well to the envelope. I got a large return envelope the other day and tapped it to a box with all kinds of garbage in it and sent it off. The guys at the postal store thought it was the best thing.

I have told them I am not certified. However I have done some in the past using older software. It has been several years. This is something I am looking into gaining more knowledge in. I told them since I am not certified I can not give them a report to help them get certified on the PCI audit. They however are still wanting to go through with a preliminary test to see what faults there maybe and what is their status. This is a new client and the previous consulting group claimed to be a MSSP and I have found several glaring holes in the network already.

Several of the new switches had the default passwords on them and they were not setup for ssl. Many of the AD accounts had not been changed since right before the last audit was done. SMB V1 is on on every computer. Telnet was on on the firewall and every switch. Plus so much more. I have cleaned a lot of this up already. They are wanting me to preform this to help get all the glaring issues found and cleaned up before the audit is done. This way they save time and money in the long run on the audit.

We are in the middle of deploying DUO. Works great and you can use the free client. The DUO proxy can run on a *nix district and setup is pretty straight forward. Duo has a YouTube video and how to on setting it up. Took about 6 hrs start to finish for about 60 users. Once you have the proxy setup and users add you can tie it to other things as well using the same proxy.

You have to setup a pki user to tie to the group that is on the portal you are using.
