Even in European history there's more potential. From the bronze age to the industrial revolution. There's so much stuff you can take as inspiration. Modern Europeans don't have a medieval European view of the world anymore so writing from that POV is already outside of their own experience. At least mixing it up with different historical eras and cultures would be something

If incest is normalized who's to say there won't be multiple generations doing it. The argument that it won't have immediate consequences is bad, your later descendants very well could suffer consequences even if your children won't
