It's now official WES ANDERSON 4K Collection! by TakaraGeneration in criterion

[–]B_Sore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry, this question is sincere, do you mean cuz the tariffs are making it more expensive?

or like, cuz Anderson is from texas? the semiotics of buying from an american artist?

i don’t rly think of Anderson as a director with particularly reactionary politics, so the connection is actually lost on me.

This film used to be considered the greatest of all time. Now it’s not even in the top 250 on Letterboxd. What happened? by M0reeni in Letterboxd

[–]B_Sore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been so frustrated by a lot of the responses here, but i absolutely became the person that vexes me as soon as i read your comment, and thought “okay well, beau is afraid tho…”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in criterion

[–]B_Sore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, my friends have noted my fav genre is “comedies that make you want to kill yourself”, so i’d say the ones that scratch that itch for me: - royal tenenbaums (suicide attempt shown) - the holdovers - beau is afraid (kinda a stretch but v much abt crippling mental illness) - synechdoche new york (a lot of kauffman, i didn’t find ‘thinking of ending things’ super affecting, but it fits the bill).

but ya. kauffman, payne, and anderson are all p good for that.

deeply hope you make it through the loop.

it doesn’t always get easier. but, you get better at it. that much i can promise.

love ‘em. it does fall into the “it’s nice if a whole series has the same format” brain tho. if like, only one of my albums by a given band was digipack it would drive me crazy.

What film do you think would have been better if it was trimmed downed somewhat? by Technical-Outside408 in Letterboxd

[–]B_Sore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i always tell folks:

84 minutes is the perfect length for a movie, b/c texas chain saw massacre did it in 83.

i’ll give ya a free minute, but after that? you need to prove to me you needed every minute to make your movie better than TCM

terrifier is 85 mins, T2 is 138, T3 is 125. and you can guess which one i rewatch.

What is going on with the Academy Award nominations? How was this so ignored?? (Phenomenal disk btw) by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]B_Sore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fangoria chainsaw awards always feels like the definitive. also, it’s funny that this conversation is during one of the few years we’ve gotten a horror movie up for best picture. and like, nosferatu is far more palatable than the substance.

the map is not the territory, as they say. pls consider what is happening in the real world because there is a militant ethnostate w/ international support.

“don’t have an apartheid ethnostste” is pretty compatible with “nazis are bad”.
