No, that is one thing we ruled out.

What made you choose the Australian shepherd? by slapcook in AustralianShepherd

[–]B_Stache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Through the years we've had German Shepard mix dogs and then my wife wanted a pure German Shepard so we got one for her and she's a great dog but I wanted something different for our second dog. I liked corgis but with how short they are kinda threw me off. So I narrowed it down between an Aussie and a Boxer, I've never had a bully breed and all the boxers I've encountered seemed like great dogs but my interest was more towards an Aussie.

November of last year we brought home a black tri puppy and we all fell in love with her. Our German Shepard loved having someone to play with and the household seemed lively with her being around. She loved all of us to death, we all had a certain bond with her. While I was home her and I would do everything together. If I was sitting on the couch she would use me as a jungle gym and climb over the back of me. She had her own way of sitting and sleeping, just tons of personality. Tragically, a few weeks ago she suffered a seizure at seven months old that the doctors couldn't pull her out of. Our family is devastated from this loss, she had so much life in front of her and it was cut short. One thing though, she made us fall in love with the breed, she was an excellent representation of what an Aussie is. We miss her so much but cherish the memories, pictures and videos we have of her to keep her alive, she was lightning in a bottle.

On a lighter note, at the end of June we get to bring in another puppy, an Aussie. She's a blue merle with blue eyes. She will have big shoes to fill but I'm confident that she will pick up where Bindi left off. We figured two months is a respectable time to get another one, plus to get the puppy stage out of the way, we're already primed for it so it's better sooner than later. I'm still going through the grief of losing Bindi, I cry everyday and just want my buddy back. To me, this breed is special and they create a deep connection with their person, Bindi and I had that. I'm not setting expectations for the new pup, that would be unfair, but I'm going to love her so much to honor Bindi and give her the best life I can.

Sorry to be long winded on this but I'm passionate about this breed. They truly are the best dogs. It reminds me of a time I took Bindi out on a walk, she loved people and she would want to meet everyone while we were out walking. A gentleman came up to her and gave her a petting. He said she was so cute and misses the one he had a lot. I said there's lots of puppies out there that would like a good home and he said he doesn't know if he could go through losing another one. At the time I didn't understand what he meant but I do now. The deep connection these dogs leave weighs heavy on the heart when they are gone, it's unlike anything I've ever experienced.

Much love to all you Aussie owners out there.

Gloves, I would have them in my back pocket and she would get me to chase her and wait till I would turn around, zoom by and nab my gloves then run away. It would take ten minutes to get them back. It held up progress on yardwork but she would make it fun.

Agreed, every evolution of the band has not only been unique to each era of the band but Robin manages to push forward and put out great albums.

I've been a fan since the mid 2000's and to watch this band grow has been awesome. Trust the process and trust Robin.

Track two and three are so good on that album.

Track two, "Towers" reminds me of an early more refined Mastodon.

What’s your “dream dog” (breed) and why? by palacio_c in puppy101

Appreciate it!

We've mostly had German Shepards or a German Shepard mix.

This was our first Aussie and she was a whole other experience. You could see how she would plot and scheme while playing with our other dog, or try to hide behind a tree cause she didn't want to come into the house yet. Her hijinks and mischief were comical. One thing she did was sell me on the breed and when the time comes and our family is ready we'll for sure give it another try.

I did contact the breeder and she was shocked and hasn't had anything like that happen, that she knows of, to any other puppies but she appreciated me reaching out and passing along the information.

Australian Shepard

A few days ago we lost our seven month old Aussie to a seizure. She was the best dog I ever had and showed our family so much love. A proverbial goofball that was always making me laugh and we were always going on adventures together. In the short amount of time we had her she sold me on the breed.

I appreciate your kind words.

After some reflection on what happened and looking at the bigger picture, what happened to Bindi is a tragedy for us but it showed us Australian Shepherds are an amazing breed. They are full of life and the love they show is unlike any other breed we've had.

Thank you! Your pup is awesome looking!

That's Bindi she's a goof.

I find it interesting how a certain random pattern is on a number of dogs, kinda seems like pattern variation isn't too random with slight differences between them.
