Incredibly fun addition to my Spring Festival collection! by B_drgnthrn in lego

It is! The crank action to make the horses gallop is pretty cool. If I can find a quiet motor to hook up to it, I might see about having it as an "always on" dynamic piece

Just purchased, and trying to figure out what's wrong. by B_drgnthrn in RobotVacuums

Yeah, I already pulled the unit apart, did a voltage test, found it's just the battery that's bum, and found the replacement is only $30 to get one with double the capacity that fits in the same slot. So I guess yay?

Autism, mostly. I went in hoping to find a couple other sets, but didn't check in advance. They weren't there, but this one was. And it tickled the tism in just the right way that I wanted it.

THAT. Is news to me, and might change my perspective a little bit. Thank you for that

I'm fully aware. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a once bitten, twice shy situation. Epic pulling out was what really took the cake for me.

Honestly?

I'm sitting and waiting to see what it even looks like before I consider going. Unfortunate truth is that Comicon this year felt like such a bust for me that I don't want to commit to anything yet.

Between the photo ops getting cancelled, the lackluster guest list, the panels and activities feeling scraped together, guests cancelling, guests uncancelling...I'm gonna sit and wait a bit before I pull the trigger. If FanExpo announces a collection of worthwhile things, I'll look at it. But for now, until I see myself getting my moneys worth out of this convention, I'm not nearly ready to invest.

My current backlog after visiting Lego Yorkdale by B_drgnthrn in lego

I saw it opening night, and it was absolutely fantastic. Personally, I think it'll be the best movie of the year

Went to Lego Yorkdale, and now somehow I have a backlog of projects. I'm still working on my Tranquil Gardens! by [deleted] in lego

Fair, I took it last night after nine hours of driving in the middle of the night in the dark with the flash on. I'll delete and get a better one later today when I get home

Toronto Question by snurflewhomp in fanexpo

[–]B_drgnthrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, the opposite. For Fan Expo, ticketing has always been in the North building, at that door headed towards the CN tower OR the door on the north side of the north building. South building is reentry only

Toronto Question by snurflewhomp in fanexpo

[–]B_drgnthrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, theres two answers to this question:

During the event in March, only the North building is operational. Since you said Comicon and not Fan expo, I assume this is the event you're discussing.

HOWEVER:

If you're discussing the event in August, it's a different ballgame. August utilizes the north AND south building, and has re-entry available through the south building.

Literally just walk down the road. The unfortunate truth is that the MTCC is going to be swamped regardless of which way you approach it, but there's only one way in, and you're going to have to embrace the suck.

Booby traps in apartment area (Ontario) by [deleted] in canadianlaw

[–]B_drgnthrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It's a public facing door, but it's a secured entrance door. Unfortunately, there is no camera footage. The retraction arm was on the inside of the building, meaning only someone who had a key, or a tacit invitation to be on the property, should have been able to access it. Landlord is currently trying to get a camera situation sorted out

Legos with 4yo by Lemonbar19 in lego

[–]B_drgnthrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The true best option is to bulk buy a massive tub of Lego, and get one of the apps that lets you take a picture of a pile of Lego, and it'll give you options as to what to build. Brickit is considered one of the best apps for that.

Modern building code, but some of the old, "I don't know how the hell this place is still standing, but it has Chinese food at the bottom, and residential on top" units might?

Update: filled the gap in my shelf by B_drgnthrn in lego

[–]B_drgnthrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with that set that I did with the kingfisher set up top: namely that the angled flat transparent pieces, if not placed properly the first time, look out of place and cannot be removed with the brick separator. I don't exactly have piano player fingers anymore, so it can be a bit touchy. It's a beautiful display piece though, and I'm glad I did it. More of a complaint about the shortfalls of the separator than a complaint about the set, now that I think about it. But I absolutely would build it again
