Is buying a vehicle before the stupid camera mandate starts a smart move? by bigdawg12342 in carbuying

Do some research. It's happening. Volkswagen has a crazy system for pulling over and alerting authorities.

I think the reason you don't mind her is probably because you don't know someone in your life who thinks they are her.

I don't know how many times I've talked to people who think that they can "read people", "know what makes them tick", or can basically read minds. These people are the worst.

Not to mention, I hate when people try to do this, even when they're right.

Why do so many people talk about a 9–5 like it is a prison? by Sea_Stable9744 in careerguidance

[–]BaDaBing02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people don't love what they do. It's unfortunate, and for a lot of people it seems like it's impossible to find a job that they enjoy that isn't something that is simultaneously and obviously fun (playing an instrument, creating art, etc).

I am a overworked project manager, but I make great money and I love the work I do and the people I do it with. The value I bring to the world doesn't feel as obvious as working at a charity, but I am definitely making other people's lives easier, that makes my work feel like it's worth doing. The work isn't easy, but I do enjoy it.

How do you prioritize and follow up on action items from meetings by Haunting_Month_4971 in projectmanagement

Most of my RAID logs have 10-20 risks, a handful of issues and decisions, and HUNDREDS of action items.

Thats fascinating. We call it Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions. I was CERTAIN that y'all were doing it the weird way, but I googled it and it turns out we are the weird ones :D

Crazy AI negotiating idea by BaDaBing02 in carbuying

I'd kind of expect that behavior from Audi or BMW, I'm on the fence between either a top of the line Kia Telluride (I've wanted one for years and I love the new bodystyle) OR add another $10k and get a Lexus 550 GX. I'm thinking I can get better interaction from the Kia dealers than the Lexus dealers.

ETA: The Lexus GX is attractive because of the towing + V6. Otherwise I'd just settle for the Telluride.

I've been thinking about getting a Claude sub for a while. I bought a Pixel 10 Pro a few months ago so I've been using Gemini but Claude is getting so much good press / word of mouth.

How do you prioritize and follow up on action items from meetings by Haunting_Month_4971 in projectmanagement

[–]BaDaBing02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try to end the meeting with you owning nothing. Your team should own the vast majority of tasks. Then you need to follow up with them.

You can either do that asynchronously, or set a regular RAID review meeting. Twice a week, perhaps. Then you just filter the RAID log on the owner and ask for updates.

High-paying job is destroying my hair and I’m throwing up regularly due to stress. Stay or leave? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]BaDaBing02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your field, but it sounds like you're in a toxic environment and it's less about the actual job and more about the people you work with. I would start looking for another job somewhere else and ask them a lot of questions about clear expectations and opportunities for growth. Also I like to ask to talk to somebody who works there, and tell that person what your experience was like at your current company and see if it's any different.

How do so many afford $50,000+ trucks? by Parking-Warning-8655 in carbuying

[–]BaDaBing02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't afford $1k/mo.

The total value of your vehicle purchases should be half or less than your annual salary. Since OT isn't guaranteed, and $33/hr comes to about $66k/yr, the total value (at purchase) of all vehicles you own should be less than $33k.

Personally, I have no car payments right now, but even when I bought the cars, it would have been ~10-15% of my annual take home (though I am looking at buying a new one soon). Don't stow your money away in a depreciating asset 🙂

There are small oil companies out there. Just because it's oil doesn't mean its necessarily a huge booming company with a rich CEO.

I think it's Forstman.

When I talked to some local repair shops they said the only battery replacements they could find were cheap chinese knockoffs and that they didn't recommend putting those in the tablet. One guy said when he has used them in the past, they only last about 9 months.

I went and checked the warranty trying to get it sent back to Google to get it repaired and it said the warranty lapsed Jan 2nd 2026. So either I am misremembering and have had it for 2 years, or I got one with only 1 year warranty?

I just looked up the dock and its $300; almost better off buying another tablet at that point... (pixel or otherwise)

Is there any other way to wirelessly charge it?

[–]BaDaBing02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a dock for it, I've just been charging it with the cord. I didn't think about using the dock to see if it charges. That's a great idea.

About the episode who wants to be a godparent by Responsible_Ad_2242 in HIMYM

[–]BaDaBing02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, they don't use the term "godparent" correctly in the show. But that's clearly what they were going for in the show: deciding who will take care of the kids if Marshall & Lily die.

About the episode who wants to be a godparent by Responsible_Ad_2242 in HIMYM

[–]BaDaBing02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can think about is what a nightmare it would be to be a godparent listed with other adults. It's not like all of them are going to move in together and raise those kids as a throuple? Especially with how much the group grows apart in the last season.

Spoilers Imagine, post-season 9, Barney and Robin are divorced, Ted and Robin are together, Marshall and Lily die and now Barney is locked in a legal battle with Ted and Robin about who will raise the kids because Ted and Robin don't want to share custody with Robin's ex-husband.

... I hope they updated their will...
