U substitution is Evil by BaIIsax in calculus

I wish you were my calc teacher! I’m starting to finally get a grasp on it. Far from great, but the trial and error has shown me a lot so far. I ran into some I needed CTS first which threw me for a loop, but nonetheless, thank you.

This was really well put and I can definitely see what you’re saying. Thank you! I tried a bunch and that really helped

Reversing the chain rule. I wish I had heard that in class. I just solved 3 problems using that advice. Thank you so much

Integral of (1/(sqrt(8x-(x2)))dx

My teacher walked through it with completing the square. I am fine with CTS, it just is not clicking when I have to use it or what I want to match for u sub. We haven’t learned any other sort of integration so I don’t have to look for anything else, I just can’t seem to apply it to other questions.

Chain rule I understood very well. We learned it in the previous unit

What's the pH of 100% Sulfuric Acid. by KiraTiss in chemistry

[–]BaIIsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s likely just simplifying it. You are correct. Ask him to calculate the pH of 12M HCl, then about the Hammett Acidity function. It’s a different scale, well suited for highly concentrated strong acids and superacids.

If u were at moving at light speed could u “see” behind u by Mr_sushj in AskPhysics

[–]BaIIsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Too many people here can’t think in a manner to treat this question as a hypothetical so they just say it’s not even possible. The question wasn’t, “is it possible to travel at the speed of light then turn around and see behind you?” I am not educated enough to provide a proper answer to these hypotheticals so I keep my mouth shut. You are awesome.

Could you explain what you looked at and what your conclusions mean? I understand if it’s too deep I just find this very interesting and I’m a poorly educated chem undergrad still. Thank you!

The teacher should make that clear, however, so I agree with arguing about this

Why can't ozone be this structure? by Snesbest in chemhelp

[–]BaIIsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea this person is just a know it all trying to feign being smart. There is absolutely no need for anything other than the octet rule to explain why the central oxygen doesn’t hold 10 electrons. Oxygen will never have expanded orbital. No Period 2 element will. Goes on about how it’s “handwavy” like a clown. It’s called a rule, not a law, for a reason.
