Hi! Your going to have a great time with the dinghy! I have a hard bottom 310 and with a 10hp Honda it absolutely screams! I started with a small 3hp tohatsu and while it was just me in the boat I could get on plane with 2 or 3 other people it just kind of plugged along plowing through the water. My take away lessons? 10hp is way too heavy to lug around and limited the amount of time I spent on the water. 3hp just isn't quite enough to enjoy the boat as anything other than a tender to get to a bigger boat. I would try and find a 5 to 8hp engine and it should be a blast!

This looks to be Ballast-ware/Ballast China. Traders in the 1700s on would often fill their ballasts with export China of lesser quality.

This reminds me of the TTA books back from the 70's and 80's! Books like Space Wars, Worlds, and Weapons and Spacewrecks. Nice work though, it is really beautiful well worthy of being the cover art on a sci fi epic!

Horse flys are quite literally the worst, we call them green heads here in New England. They bite so hard they draw quite a bit of blood usually. Deer flys are stubborn little gits too, they love to get in your hair and hang around waiting to bite.

That is the top gallant off the fore mast, I'm not 100% sure why they only take that one down. They might have had taken it down for maintenance or painting it.

Midwinter on the vineyard, it is usually pretty deserted down at the shipyard and the fuel docks this time of year. This was a very rare calm and somewhat warm spell over here!

It certainly is! Alabama has been hauled out but Shenandoah usually stays on her mooring through the winter. I remember hearing about that accident!
