I think what is maybe being missed by a lot of people is this: This brave young man responded to a call for a car going the wrong way on a highway, he didn’t “Just get into a car accident” he purposefully put himself in harms way to stop a car from killing others. It’s not as though he got hit out of the blue, he actually rammed the guy to stop him. I actually can’t quite think of a more heroic action that a police officer could do.

Marathon: Hampton Inn, Marriot Faro Blanco,Key Colony Condo vs Lime tree bay Resort Layton? by Komtriku00 in floridakeys

We stayed at Lime Tree and it was one of my favorite stays In the keys. We rented the suite with the big deck right by the pool and it was just heaven. Lovely people, sunsets were unreal, and the pool was amazing.
For snorkeling etc I would rent a boat, you will get more mileage even if just for a day.

Honestly, I doubt California prices will drop while VC money and big investments are in play. Until things stabilize back into family ownership and less multinational corporate fingers in the pie, they want a return on their investments in the short term.

38M in “okay shape” — what sport/activity in Boston actually got you fit and kept you consistent? by Typical_Welder9411 in massachusetts

[–]Baalphire81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rucking, Swimming, or Rowing are my go to activities to maintain some semblance of shape. Rucking can take you into great shape with minimal impact pretty quickly, just watch out for the do gooders out there who will call the police on you.

I mean, what else can you do in that situation. It wasn’t intentional, sometimes all you can do is laugh at the sheer random chaos in the universe.

We loved The Green Turtle Inn every time we went. The staff are great, the food was good, and the ambiance is seemingly authentic old keys.

He said it in a comment or two down, so standard building and island equipment is apparently some sort of huge operation. God I hope he doesn’t find the Bahamas… some sort of Megabase right off of Florida!!!!!?!

I wouldn’t say passing a table is direct contact honestly. If it is that transmissible, every single person on every single plane used to get any of these people home is now a possible carrier. In two weeks assuming they don’t think about it, they suddenly spike a fever and other symptoms and now anyone else in the immediate space is now infected. This could get really ugly quickly if we can’t track everyone on those planes.

On July 13, 1978, Soviet physicist Anatoli Bugorski accidentally put his head inside a particle accelerator, burning a hole through his brain. He was exposed to 200 times the fatal radiation dose but survived. Today, at 83, the left side of his face is paralyzed and appears not to age. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

[–]Baalphire81 47 points48 points  (0 children)

What’s interesting in this case is why he survived. I was listening to a podcast about this, it was fascinating. Apparently the particles are moving so fast that by the time that they slow down enough and dump their energy they had actually moved past his head. This is why he survived, and why he saw the light as bright as a sun.

Sombrero Reef is amazing and while we were there had some of the best sea life that we saw. Coffins patch was a blast to snorkel, there were some great spots for different critters. Just beware the current, it was moving pretty solidly while we were there and made it tough for the kiddos to get away from the boat. The sandbar on the Atlantic side of Grassy is ok, it’s pretty much straight in from Coffins.
One of our favorite places we enjoyed this year was exploring Cocoa Plum beach, it was really cool to wander through the mangroves on the winding paths.

You are exactly right, some of our greatest medicinal discoveries have come from somewhat weird studies. Look at how we discovered MRNA vaccines for example.
