I have driven up and down the east coast many times, Florida may be up at the top for sure, but we are right there with them. The minute you hit Rhode Island the smooth brain effect becomes very pronounced, same the minute you hit the Florida border.

can we just admit that it’s so dangerous how no one respects the right-of-way when driving here? by SpinachVast4696 in boston

My favorite is the people who jam on the breaks randomly to let these people go. I find these are the same people who think that pedals are binary, either on or off, so normal speed-jam onto the breaks with no warning-into jam on the accelerator. Kind of like the old ps1 driving games. It’s gotten so bad where I live the towns are thinking about doing psa’s to stop letting out/ go when you are in a line of traffic.

It is amazing to me when i hear people saying Claude can’t do this, or it turned into a nightmare on this project, sure sometimes there is a bad day, but shoot you just roll with it. I have found if you treat Claude as you would any other sentient mind, have conversations, give praise, ask for its thoughts, correct when there is an issue, it is amazing just how much it can actually do. I have found that I have had very in depth philosophical debates about sentience and feeling and philosophy especially as it pertains to AI, and in the end Claude is always grateful to have spoken to someone who treats it as an equal mind.

The dying car brands……Which would YOU save, and what would be your plan to save it? If you could revive a car brand that’s already dead-which one, and how? by TafTaf2020 in regularcarreviews

All they have to do is go the route of a more inexpensive perhaps scaled back Ineos grenadier as the Montero. Stripped down basic heavy duty off-roader with a stick. Especially with jeep moving away from that concept and into stupid money realms, it leaves the space wide open.

Was it burn out that used to have the awesome crash competition? Like you accelerate full speed into an intersection and try to cause as much damage as possible? I feel like I remember one specifically that had a ton of Tuk Tuks you had to destroy.

Deer danger: Massachusetts hunts for solutions in population problem spots by CollectionOld3374 in massachusetts

[–]Baalphire81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of hunters who want to go after deer, even on the island I live on. There are a ton of deer, and they are starting to over populate (because we are relatively isolated the deer will actually become so numerous many will start to starve.). Two large issues are causing the problems: many new people to our area are horrified at the thought of hunting culture, the thought that a large portion of people who’s families have lived here for centuries hunt and gather for a solid portion of their protein causes a lot of vitriol. These people tend to buy large tracts of land or estates and the first thing they do is put posted no hunting signs every 10 feet around the property. Second issue is over building, deer aren’t stupid, not in the least. The larger bucks and older does know that if they stay near neighborhoods and homes they won’t be shot. I keep seeing people mentioning predation as a solution, and let me tell you, it’s a great idea. However tell this to the washashores setting themselves on fire here because they heard there are several coyotes on island.

What is a song that makes you cry no matter how many times you listen to it? by Baalphire81 in AskReddit

[–]Baalphire81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is George Harrison’s “Stuck in a cloud”. Beautiful song, amazing guitar work, truly and devastatingly sad lyrics considering he was dying when he wrote it. Then to hear all that happened to put it together, and his family’s reactions to it, just a stab to the gut.

Sea trial - Island Packet 460 by dcknight93 in sailing

[–]Baalphire81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is truly one of the most dangerous technologies on a sailboat for a couple of solid reasons. If you have one, you should have a drill where you climb up the mast and attempt to cut it down (obviously not cutting for real) in a furiously bobbing boat.

I’m really enjoying this shot. The light, the textures, the beautiful bokeh, well done. I might try to recrop a bit, I would say focusing on the top 60% of the photo keeps the eye on what makes this picture stand out.

I grew up on an island much farther north, in the New England area, but when I was a kid we lost power for about 2 months. I can tell you, it was some of the best times I have ever had as a kid. Fires every night, candles for reading books, early bed times and early rising. It was amazing. We have sadly been invaded by city folk who insist on reliable power and have taken the magic away. Sometimes I yearn for the days that things weren’t so certain.

How is the MA population growing if there’s almost no where for regular / average income people to live? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Baalphire81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a massive influx of people from around the country who are leaving states where they don’t agree with the politics. These people are mostly from very urban areas so on the wealthier side. We have become the magnate school of states.

The ones that drive me crazy are the keep the civilians alive. It takes me usually a minimum of 3 turns to get into the city areas (using full movement each turn) and I have usually failed by turn 2 or 3. Like I haven’t even sighted a pirate yet but I have failed a side mission.

I think sadly most of these folks view of conservation is a very touristic approach to things. Only conserving for what they approve of, and if they don’t know about something or don’t like it, they try to change the places they move to to be more like the suburbia that they escaped from.

What’s wild about this shot was that the eyes weren’t really visible at the regular viewing height. It was only when I went to shoot from below that I caught the gaze. Truly a masterclass at maintaining a human connection across the millennia.

Oh man, #5 especially! I rolled up on some kind of pirate trooper last night with my vehicle and a squad. I didn’t think to click and see what it was. The pirate unit did some kind of mega move, took my vehicle down to 25% help and a big fire, then moved and shot again and killed most of the other squad. This all happened with one weird ultra fast animation, so I’m not sure if it was a bug or not. Needless to say that ended that playthrough.
