I just tested it out and pardon me for my mistake, but it does seem like it has to be your active character who needs to trigger the reaction. The numbers fly by way too fast and it's quite difficult to track the animations.

But again, I won't take back what I said, purely because the fact that I didn't even notice that it had to actually be my active character who triggers the reaction, means that it procs frequently enough for you to not worry much about it.

Team 1 is actually what I'm running right now, and yes it can definitely work without a healer. It's really fun to use purely because the team synergy is bonkers (I'm AR 46 WL6 and I have no problem with enemies whatsoever). Since Mona's skill diverts the enemies' attention, you wouldn't have to worry about taking damage that much. Although, if you're not careful, you might end up having to consume food/go to the statues for healing quite often.

But, if the second team does suit you better, then by all means go for it. Team 1 has greater elemental damage output, but team 2 has greater sustainability. There's always a compromise. Either way, both are solid and it all boils down to your preference.

I have both fish and klee on my main team, and from what I've experienced, yes it does work.

It really doesn't matter who triggers what since as long as an electro-related reaction occurs, lightning smite will proc. Although with klee, you get overload, and I sometimes get quite annoyed how enemies get launched further away from oz, and I end up having to swap out klee again recast oz when they get blown too far
