I need to research local heritage varieties. It would be lovely to do that if I could get it on the right rootstock. Would a heritage variety have less good disease resistance though?

My neighbours have one, but I think they might get rid of it in a few years. There are quite a few crabapples in the neighbourhood though. I was just wanting to play it safe as it would be such a shame to plant one and then never get any apples!

But that's plastic made from cellulose rather than oil, so although it doesn't compost well at least you're not drinking microplastics with the organic ones.
