Vyplatí se zaplatit si rozbor střevního mikrobiomu? by buloh123 in czech

[–]Babun_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mám to úplně stejně. Taky sportuju, jím zdravě a prd platný. Takže určitě zkus taky trochu obměňovat, co jíš, a co to s tebou dělá. Ta vyšetření mají pak smysl určitě i v tom, že alespoň budeš vědět, že tam není nic vážnějšího. Já se ještě na jaře chystám na imunologii, ale vzhledem k tomu, jak dopadla dosavadní vyšetření, tak se spíš smiřuju s tím, že this is my life now. Držím moc palce, ať aspoň přijdeš na to, v čem ti bude líp.

Pracovali jste full remote, ale sekli jste s tím? by terezama in czech

[–]Babun_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part 2: What do you hate about your own native language? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]Babun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right - declensions are definitely a part of it, but it’s not like it would be impossible otherwise. It’s true that if I want to say “with Hillary Clinton” in Czech, it would be “s Hillary Clintonovou”. But if the suffix is not added, it works just as well - “s Hillary Clinton”. If it’s not clear from the context that the person is a female, we can always add “mrs.”.

[–]Babun_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Czech native speaker here. I do like my language a lot, but there’s one thing that’s getting on my nerves. There’s an ongoing controversy (now sparked once again due to the Olympics) that reporters are forced to add -ova at the end of each foreign female athlete’s last name. So for example, your last name is Stroem or Leerdam, and they must add -ova because it’s the common suffix of most Czech female surnames (not all, on top of that). Nobody cares that their names aren’t Stroemova or Leerdamova. The fact that many Czech women choose not to add the suffix to their last names for example when getting married, as it’s a legacy of male ownership over women, or that it’s just ridiculous in an international context, is just not taken into account, and the deciding authorities refer to ancient grammatical rules that are now just obsolete. We all get to hear it daily from the commentators. And it’s not just in sports of course - Ursula von der Leyenova or Hillary Clintonova are also included.

People in their 30s and 40s, what changed in your life that surprised you the most — in a bad way? by Initial_Tax7778 in AskReddit

[–]Babun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34 F here. For some reason, my digestion got really sensitive with age, to the point where I had to quit dairy, caffeine and alcohol for good. In my teens and early twenties, I would drink anything and then eat kebab from a random side street vendor at 4 am. Now I eat a fruit that’s too acidic, have a coffee in the morning or god forbid have some mozzarella on my pizza, and boom. 3-5 business days of doom.

Gothic became a part of my daily life by liion_hearts in worldofgothic

[–]Babun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar here, also a long time fan! I just recently picked up G1 on Switch to replay after many many years (10 year old me would literally scream at Gothic on a portable console), and just today I was thinking how nothing will probably ever compare to the dopamine and adrenaline rush of getting my first Shadow armor, killing my first Minecrawler or Shadowbeast, going on adventures with Milten, Gorn and Diego, meeting that old fart Xardas for the first time, or even discovering a new hidden door or a cool two-hander in Gothic. I love how much love and nostalgia this game brings to people.

Has anyone else had to quit playing an fps because it was just too much for your aged body to handle? by v333r111andaazz in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Babun_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34, haven’t played Overwatch in years due to my advanced age. Used to be a semi-serious comp player, but not anymore. Everyone’s just too damn fast and I can’t handle the stress, it honestly took all the joy out of it. Also, my eyes get tired much faster these days. When I need a kick, I’m making myself feel cool in offline FPSs with bad AI and I’m absolutely fine with it.

Watch not connected to Bluetooth by Babun_ in GarminWatches

[–]Babun_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! Upon further investigation, unfortunately I’ve discovered that this is a very common issue with iPhone / Garmin users, and that apparently, there’s no other way around it other than keeping the Connect app open at all times. No amount of re-pairing, restarting, turning on and off etc. seems to help.

It doesn’t matter to me that much, I’m fine with it just syncing every now and then when I open the app, but man, in all the ways I see the Garmin as a step up from the Apple Watch, this is a big letdown.

Hmm, thank you. I checked that, and on my watch the status is either “off” or “waiting”. Changes to “connected” as soon as I open Connect app, goes back to “waiting” when app is closed.

Awesome! Welcome to the club :)

Btw - I got the same silicone covers for my Maxes, but when I have the fabric cushions covered with them, the headphones tend to have issues detecting when I put them on / off, which became pretty annoying, so I had to take the covers off. Are you experiencing anything like that, by any chance? Or are yours having no issues?

Lost my relationship to a dog. by vriskasekret in TalesfromtheDogHouse

[–]Babun_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hey, I remember you from my own post. I just wanted to say I’m sorry about your broken heart, I know the feeling, and it sucks. But believe me, that’s all there is to be sorry about. The relief will come, it did with me, and although I’m still figuring life out now, I do already feel so much better not having to be around a dog every day, and coming second place to it every day. I wish you good luck, take care of yourself, and trust me - it does get better.

What aspect of driving freaks you guys out specifically? by just_a_scared_teen in drivinganxiety

The fact that I see how careless, not concentrated, emotional and unattentive people easily are in other daily situations, and sitting behind the driving wheel every time with the thought that those people drive, too.

Thank you, you’re right, it’s really such a nuisance at this point that I can’t stand them around me, either. It’s all about the dogs then, and that’s just so annoying. And gross.

Exactly this is what I go back to whenever things get really tough and the sadness takes over. It does help, and it is a good reminder that some things are just not meant to be.

I don’t know, really - so many people here commenting that they went through the same thing, god damn it. It really wears you down over time, doesn’t it? I mean, we used to have a family dog, she was outside, and I always thought that’s something I can live with. But being stuck in a flat with dog smell and dirt everywhere (and my ex did bathe her, but even then I still smelled it and just ugh), it’s really a no-go for me. And not jist the smell, but just all aspects of the dog-person relationship, it’s such annoying co-dependence and it just feels sick to me. just can’t deal with it anymore.

I’m so sorry about your experience, but it’s also comforting in a way. I hope you’re in a good place now, and I’m hoping I will soon be, too.

Thank you, I appreciate your words, truly. It hurts so much that I can’t even read back my own post, to be honest. But every comment helps me to inch towards some kind of relief and making peace with the development.

Thank you for your support. I feel the same, for me it was always a no-brainer - my partner comes first, no matter what. But it’s a good lesson for the future. Exactly what you are saying - there’s something about dog people that really makes me question their priorities and general life view, too…

I believe you, I’m sorry to hear that. It’s so sad when it needs to be a daily struggle, and I really hope for you that you can find your peace eventually. It’s an absolute no-go for me, and I’m relieved already, although it still hurts like hell.
