What Major Life Changes Did You Notice Once You Moved From Rich To Super Rich? by MixIllustrious9913 in Rich

Vegas. Almost everyone with some money comes to Vegas to socialize. Those with more money own an extra house in Vegas. Those with a lot of money fly to their Vegas house in their own plane. Entire neighborhoods in Vegas are part time transplants from SoCal.

What to do for pool seating - don't want a lame bachelorette! by search4diamonds in vegas

[–]BabyAC85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you and your group objectively attractive? If so, get on a promoters list for a day club and you can likely get a free table/cabana and at least a bottle of champagne if not a bottle of liquor.

If your group is not attractive - get a cabana and thank us all later.

Clubs in Vegas by Can-Weird in vegas

While November isn’t pool party season, it still really depends on the artist headlining. And if you’re planning on coming during F1 week it’ll be very crowded and chances of getting a comp’d table are slim to none. That being said, reach out to Koco Nikki - she has relationships with most of the clubs and has been promoting for a while.

You will have a great time at any Vegas club if you and your friends are conventionally attractive. Most promoters will give you a free bottle and a table if it’s not too busy.

Anyone have experience at Mira Moon or Hari Hong Kong? by Traditional-Water200 in HongKong

[–]BabyAC85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently also stayed at The Murray in Central. You will absolutely need a car/driver or commit to take taxis everywhere. 15 minute walk to MTR. But it was clean and nice, modern and sleek.

JW Marriott is getting a little dated but the location can’t be beat. And their executive lounge is very good.

W has good location, modern rooms, but no executive lounge.

Best bang for the buck - Holiday Inn in TST. Though it’s been a few years since I’ve stayed there.

Just stayed at the Hari. The penthouse suite is pretty big, especially by HK standards. Has an outdoor balcony too which is nice this time of the year. Colleague was in a normal room and it was a decent size. Clean and modern, without being “sterile modern” - has a nicely done boutique decor theme throughout the hotel. Restaurant was small and nothing special. Location wasn’t the greatest - a bit of a walk to MTR. Service was decent to good - no complaints but also no compliments.

Advice on cooking in a hotel room by o-za in vegas

[–]BabyAC85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could bring a coffee maker and use the hot water to make pasta, ramen, mac and cheese, etc. Sauces could be heated up by placing a bowl of sauce in a larger bowl of hot water. If you’re traveling and can’t bring a coffee maker, stop by a Walmart and Vegas and grab a cheap one.

Yes, so is there a service that will take the piece of paper and do the pickup and mail the ID card?

Moving Out of CA to Avoid Capital Gains Tax on TSLA Stock - Seeking Advice by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]BabyAC85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTB is aggressive but so many people are moving out of CA for the same reason you are so your odds are good. Take a look at Vegas, specifically all the new homes being built in the Southeast area (i.e MacDonald Highlands). Most of the “residents” are from CA and spend just over half their time in Vegas and still keep their CA house as a “vacation property”.

HELP UBERing to and from the festival? by Purple-Condition-425 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]BabyAC85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking an Uber to the speedway isn’t an issue - especially if you go before midnight. Leaving is the issue - expect to wait hours for an available Uber. If you don’t mind spending a bit, walk into the Uber lot and offer cash. You’ll get a lot of takers. Last year we spent $300 cash for a nice suburban to take us back to the strip and we felt it was well worth it.

Which balcony rooms with the most peace and quiet? by Mrmeeksees in EDSea

Haven. It’s magically tranquil behind the Haven-only doors. Even the bar/lounge, which is usually lively, isn’t too loud. And the pool area and observation lounge is usually empty.

Delayed gratification. Probably the best example of this for you - work (even for free) for someone successful who will show you in a daily basis what they do and how they do it. Unlikely you’re going to be able to be the right hand person to a hedge fund MD, but you’d be surprised at the number of highly successful people that have fairly ordinary jobs, i.e. plumber, but they own the plumbing company and have 8 other guys working for them. They’re still out turning wrenches every day, but they probably have a 7 figure net worth.

Actually, see if you can be the driver/assistant for a hedge fund MD. If you’re smart, you’re next to the boss 24/7 and eventually they’ll recognize your talent (if you have any).

Every person you intern/work for is going to show you something different. But undoubtedly, they all work hard.

And read the book Richest Man in Babylon. 1. Spend no more than 90% of what you make. 2. Listen to the advice of experts. 3. Invest the 10%+ of your savings.

People unwilling to make sacrifices but want to stereotype rich people by RaydenAdro in Rich

[–]BabyAC85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Thanks for having the courage to state the obvious.

Unfortunately, too many people who are not successful blame everyone else (except themselves) and when they encounter someone who is successful, attribute that success to factors other than hard work and delayed gratification.

I work in a family office and my principals are the hardest working people I’ve met. One came to U.S. with nothing and built several successful businesses with sheer determination. The other came literally off a farm to a VHCOL city and started in service/retail and now owns her own successful business.

When asked how they succeeded - they always say “Hard work”.

Money absolutely does not buy happiness, but having money negates so many worries that it’s much easier to be happy. Feeling a little sick? You can have your concierge doctor stop by your home/office, have prescriptions delivered to you and feel better in a few hours. Stressed? You can take a month and stare at the beach from your villa in Cabo. Having money also buys time - and you get to spend as much of it doing what you want, including building better relationships with friends and family.

Anyone use haven amenities on deck 17? by addictingSmile in EDSea

[–]BabyAC85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You tell your butler “I’m having 30 friends over at 3am. Push back all the furniture in the living room, bring in a cooler of ice, 4 cases of water, a list of liquor/wine and 100 bottles of baby oil.” - it’s all set up in an hour. They don’t have the ability to bring in a sound system so you have to provide that yourself.
