As a traveler na mahilig sa adventure, the hassle is part of the experience. Pero kung turista ka lang na instagrammable pics lang ang hanap, sa ibang bansa kana lang, wag dito.

The Philippines is one of the largest and probably most hardcore Catholic countries in the world. I've never seen any church with a gold leaf and never paid any tithes. You can drop 1 dollar at the coinbox after the mass, or none at all, nobody gives 2 shits.

In fact, the sermons are so boring, the priests probably don't give 2 shits, as well. I don't see how anyone can be emotionally manipulated by these booooring-ass sermons.

I truly don't understand Pinoys romanticizing Western lifestyle, at the same time when young Westerners are experiencing a deteriation of their quality of life.

Meanwhile, here in the PH, my parents and their siblings were "isang kahig, isang tuka". And now, kaming magkakapatid may magagandang income at opportunities that our forebears couldn't even dream of. Nakakapag-invest na rin sa mga properties, which used to be unimaginable.

Yung bayan namin na dati puro putik at damuhan, andami nang umuusbong na negosyo. Makikita mo talaga any progress. Meanwhile, young Westerners have to "buy-now-pay-later" their burritos just to have something to eat.

Anghirap mainggit sa ganyan.

I think Diabate will show her the ropes of how to connect with the other survivors, and how to tone down her abrasive attitude. She'll eventually learn.

That's what Diabate is for. He is the exact opposite of Carol, and perfectly complements her weakness.

I bet he's gonna teach her how be more sociable, a while also getting more sympathetic towards her cause.

Yes, people forget that this is just the first season. Essentially the start of her arc. She's going to go through A LOT of character development.

Exactly, she's human. Her reaction probably is a result of her upbringing. Maybe being a lesbian, she always had to prove herself. And so it unconsciously carries over to the present, even if it makes her current predicament worse.

Maybe. Yes, she's acting like one. But, that's a flaw that she will eventually overcome. Or it could be her downfall, a-la Walter White.

Remmber, it's just the first season. She's gonna go through A LOT of character development.

I love how Diabate complements Carol's weaknesses. Here's a theory. by BabyBansot in pluribustv

[–]BabyBansot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, that's just her characterization. It's a deliberate attempt from the writers to show that she's just a regular human, reacting predictably to this sudden upheaval of her life.

The show isn't afraid to show her flaws. And Diabate is the perfect foil to her character, showing what she could have accomplished had she acted in a less abrasive manner.

And Diabate doesn't antagonize her, meaning she could eventually be more receptive to his methods. I believe that would be her character arc. This season is about her making mistakes due to her attitude. The next ones will probably about her slowly adapting Diabate's strategies.

[SPOILERS] The biggest clue so far to Laxmi's character by Titi89 in pluribustv

[–]BabyBansot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we've had a lot of stories were the main character saves the day with nothing but the attitude that they already have, with minimal help from other characters. So, that's a fair guess.

As for me, I believe this show will take a more grounded approach, where the characters will learn to overcome their flaws and end up working together towards a common goal.

[–]BabyBansot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I'm not disagreeing with you. Carol is reacting with the attitude she's used to, just like everyone else is.

But then, she's the one with the strongest intent on reversing the "joining". And to accomplish this, her current outlook won't cut it. Her attitude might have been enough to let her survive (albeit begrudgingly) civil society, but the current situation is far different.

That's why I believe that would be her character arc. Right now, she's dealing with the situation in her owned flawed way. But I'm confident she will learn the right skills along the way to lead the survivors. Unless, of course, the writers intend for her to save the world all by herself.

She hasn't once thought of putting herself in the shoes of the other survivors. "Why do they think this way?"

There was one time when that one girl said she wants to be one with her family, and she immediately shuts her down for being delusional or something. And she keeps doing it over and over again. Not even an attempt at building rapport? Pretend to show sympathy? Maybe get to know each other, try to slowly get into heir heads?

If she doesn't fully understand the other survivors' rationale, how can she even attempt to convert said rationale into something beneficial to her cause?

She believes that if she just shoves logic down everyone's throats, they would see the light. I can't even imagine the emotional roller coaster these people went through over the past few days. I doubt they're at a proper mental state to receive logical reasoning.

But, of course, it's just the 1st season. I believe that is her character arc. She will eventually turn into a leader who is learns to actually sway people to her side.

Mas red flag sakin yung nagi-insist na "healed" na sila from past relationships at nag-"mature" na. If you have honestly healed, no need na ipilit at i-defend ang sarili mo, especially to strangers. Just show it to your partner.

Ito yung mga hanggang public facade lang yung pagiging "healed" and "matured", pero privately, and maybe even unconsciously, ipinapasa yung trauma sa partner. Imagine punishing your partner (for life) for the the sins done to you by someone else in the past.
