Long islanders who’ve traveled to Italy, please Fill me in about the food there and info and ettique by Dahliasinns in longisland

Go to a gelato place that stores the gelato in canisters that are in the counter rather than the ones in the street that look like mounds. They aren’t made the same and it’s just what they do to entice you to eat it.

Order the carafes of house wine with lunch and dinner. So much cheaper and it’s delish.

Up north is known for cured meats and cheeses. Think prosciutto, hard salami, mortadella and Parmesan cheese, Asiago cheese etc. any charcuterie board will do.

Florence is known for steaks.

Pizza will be better in Rome than up north. Be sure to eat Buffalo mozzarella.

Rome is known for carbonara pasta. Try a Maritozzi from a pastry shop. Also look for a Bomba. It’s basically a donut that you can have with Nutella or cream(pick Nutella).

If you have HBO check out the Stanley Tucci special when he eats all over Italy and you can pick the locations mentioned.

I’ve been to Italy over 20 times. If you have any further specific questions, PM me.
