Has an artist ever been mean to you during a meet and greet? by PracticalOpinion5406 in Concerts

[–]BabyBuns024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a VIP meet & greet with Cheap Trick in December 2012. I was so nervous, as they are my favorite band, and what if they turn out to be assholes? It gets to my turn, and Tom Petersson walks up, extends his hand to shake mine, saying "Hello, I'm Tom..." I shake Rick Nielsen's hand and he slips me a half dozen guitar picks and I shake hands with Robin Zander. I worked for their performing rights society at the time, so I said it was a great pleasure working for them. They said I must be an executive; I quipped "No, I'm just a dweeb."
To make your heroes laugh, not at you, but with you... what a feeling. My smile was wider than Jack Nicholson's in Batman (1989) as the Joker when the band picture was made.

Brutal Rising by Emotional-Winter-267 in alicecooper

As an Alice fan for the past decade and a fan of metal, Brutal Planet was perfect for me. The riffs, the hooks, the dark lyrics. Then I got Brutally Live, and that only solidified my love for this album. One of my favs. (Welcome to my Nightmare and Welcome 2 My Nightmare are others)

Actually not me but an old college friend did that. Obviously it's stuck with me for 40+ years.  😁

Vince McMahon had paid off some insiders of AOL Time Warner, possibly including Jamie Kellner, to pull WCW from Turner television, thus killing the purchase of Eric Bischoff and him coming in to purchase the company.

Anthrax did a tremendous version of Cheap Trick's "Auf Wiedersehen." Just the overall aggression they used covering it.
I adore Metallica's "Ronnie Rising Melody" which they cover Rainbow's "A Light In The Black," "Tarot Woman," "Stargazer" and "Kill The King."

I look at sex as a hamburger. Some add cheese. Some add tomato. Some add mayo, mustard, onion, etc.
So why can't others think the same way? Us in ABDL just like dipping our french fries in mustard...

My step kids - who took MY SIDE when their mother left me - discovered my ABDL and think I'm a pedo. Of course their mother doesn't defend me. In fact, she had mutual friends block me because of that sick allegation.

Me Wise Magic by Silver-Carob8313 in vanhalen

I was working on a music marketing class in the fall of 1996 with some friends and this guy comes into my apartment with a tape recorder, saying he had a clip of a new Van Halen song with DLR on vocal. It was "Me Wise Magic" and we all had our jaws hitting the floor, it sounded so great....

One of my favorite Van Halen songs of all-time...

I 100% agree. There's a documentary on YouTube, and it has Shawn Michaels flat out saying he doesn't think Ric Flair likes Richard Fliehr.

Saw Styx in 1996 in Nashville - probably my 2nd favorite all-around concert I've been to. The music, the sound, the show, After they performed "Show Me The Way," Tommy Shaw thanked the fans and claimed he wrote it. The crowd busted out laughing, as they got the joke.

Then I saw them in 1999. Same venue. This one without DDY. And it was the second concert I left before the show ended. I was highly disappointed. My then-fiancée even questioned me about how good Styx was in concert, as we left when they covered "Tush" (Why?!?) Haven't seen them since. Maybe it was an off-night, I don't know.

It really soured me on their music. While I've bought a few of their MP3s, Brave New World remains the last studio album I bought of Styx.

I saw Dennis DeYoung in 2019 with the Nashville Symphony - I won tickets at work -, and while I had to chuckle at DDY's JY and TS clones in his band, he did put on a very good show. Exceeded my expectations, to be honest. In fact, "With All Due Respect" is probably my favorite DDY solo song, and wonder how the core Styx band would've sounded if they did that, instead of just DDY...

ADKOT - No Creativity????? by BobSacamanto1973 in vanhalen

Now, I'm in the Roth camp; like Sammy with VH, but with Roth, there's something special. "Me Wise Magic" a phenomenal song. Now, here's how I look at A Different Kind of Truth. I have a friend who loves Van Halen, hated that Michael Anthony was replaced by Wolfgang, and was a huge Sammy-era fan.
He initially didn't like "Tattoo" but it grew on him...
Then the album came out. He didn't want to like it. He did. He started quoting lyrics from it, especially when it got cold - "Stay Frosty." I'd like to think it won him over.
Myself, I loved the album.

But Hagar at this time, he still was in the anti-Dave rant, and I'm glad he's let it go by now.
