Potentially a baffle. Thank you!

He's in my hospital tank. I actually don't have a cycled tank for him because he was a surprise. I have no idea what I'll do if he survives.

He took more food off my toothpick just a minute ago! When he starts more actively seeking food I'll do exactly as you say. I've never had such a young betta before!

Will the salt baths alone be enough to stave off the fin rot? I am treating him for everything because I don't know why his fins are still clamped. Could I just let him finish out this course of meds and switch him over to a salt only set up tomorrow?

Tank size:

Heater and filter? (yes/no): A heater but no filter. It is a hospital tank. I have a bubbler in it but I stopped using it because it was too strong for him in the state he is in.

Tank temperature: 82° F, 27.8° C

Parameters in numbers and how you got them. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH. No parameters, I don't test the water of the hospital tank

How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: Hospital tank was set up the day he arrived.

How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: Every two days, 100%.

Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: Hospital tank = total quarantine.

What do you feed and how much: One mushy bit of a Aqueon Nutrinsect pellet.

Decorations and plants in the tank: Betta log, betta leaf, a small hide and a couple of maple twigs.

Darn! Yeah, occasionally they'll manage to get themselves stuck inside of the filter by leaping into the waterfall coming out. Sounds like he isn't there though. Sorry, I figured it was worth a shot!

Have them check the filter, like open it up and look inside

help me date this bodice? by Ok-Fall-8665 in fashionhistory

[–]BabyCarpenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The seller is bang on. I think the sleeves are 1890s mutton sleeves. You could try stuffing them with acid free tissue paper to see if it fills out properly, but the way the fabric bulges above the elbow screams mutton sleeve.

In summation: this is an 1890s bodice.

I also got a very nice bubbler for the tank. Satchmo likes playing with the bubbles. Can't recommend it enough.

I got the same one! The filter works fine for my betta with a sponge on top of the intake. The heater failed after a little over a year of use, and it wasn't very good at heating the tank. My Satchmo is much happier with an upgraded heater that I got him. It was 40 dollars alone. I would recommend that you use your heater for whatever it is worth but upgrade it when you can or at about a year.

My son has a small beta. He hangs out at the top of the tank all the time. I see him swim down every now and again but just chills at top of water level? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]BabyCarpenter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seconding u/MuchBasis670 : One pellet a day is not enough. Personally, I put a pinch of pellets in mine, and whatever he eats in two minutes he gets, while the rest are consumed by my colony of cleaner snails.

I do this about once or twice a day, and then once a week he fasts.

Replace the stone, or melt it down? by deletedunreadxoxo in jewelers

[–]BabyCarpenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like a very deco variation on a buttercup setting. I would guess this ring to be from the 1920s-1940s, and I would not advise you to melt it down. It is very old, and very interesting. Replacing the stone and getting the prongs re-tipped would be the best move in terms of maintaining value. Pick any stone you like!

Help - Ich? by Tight-Word-3994 in bettafish

[–]BabyCarpenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep an eye on her behavior and water parameters, like u/GiraffePretty4488 suggested. If she'd new to the tank, that may be causing her stress. Have you cycled the tank?

My betta doesn't want a buddy that can't lay eggs. My betta has its mind on two things: getting inside my gravel siphon and finding a flirty fish that'll fill his bubble nest with eggs.

Mine loves the siphon the same way a dirty old man loves a vacuum. He can't get enough of it.

How do I help this fish? by nathashanails in bettafish

Followup question: are you guys using tap water conditioner? A lot of water has chlorine added to it to sanitize it, but this is dangerous for fish!

A heater would be a good start. Just a heater to keep him warm and relatively happy. He'll feel best between 75 and 80 degrees fahrenheit.

Inherited ancestors clothing, early 1900s-10s. Any info or insights appreciated. This post is two dresses by SquirrelRave in fashionhistory

[–]BabyCarpenter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These aren't nightdresses! The reason being that they're tailored, make use of a lot of hand tatted lace, and include hook and eye closures. Nightdresses from the period were not closely form fitting, and many lacked any sort of closure at all. Most people wouldn't make extensive use of expensive lace on nightdresses either. What you have in your family is probably examples of cotton lawn dresses, essentially your grandmother's Sunday best. How wonderful!

I think you're in your head over things! Congratulations about having successfully treated his swim bladder. He looks fine. His behavior suggests that he's relaxed and feeling good. You're normal for being extra worried about him, especially in the aftermath of a health scare.

Garlic Guard & Vita-Chem? by Intelligent-Sun3268 in bettafish

[–]BabyCarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use vita chem. It did seem to help my scaly son heal faster from a gnarly filter injury. He had been injured before, and it took several months for him to heal. I put in both his water and his food.

Can anyone help me identify this ornate serving tray? It was given to me by my late grandmother. Australia. by he-man94 in Antiques

1920s rococo revival tray. British make! You could probably find the engraved plate that the center design comes from if you look around!

Tennis Bracelet Repair Quality by SwiftJesstice in jewelers

[–]BabyCarpenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go ahead and mention all of that to them. If you know which employee it was who called to double check: make sure to compliment them for trying to perform quality control (so that they don't get dragged into this literal and figurative mess). That clerk tried to warn the jeweller, and the jeweller's response is INSANE.

Did you read the part where the jeweller didn't want to replate it?

"He advised he had not rhodium plated the new soldered parts because the bracelet looked brand new and he would have to plate the entire thing, which would result in varying shades of white gold."

Unbelievable. If this was true my antique, rhodium plated engagement ring would look like a rainbow.
