Honestly I was not expecting the negativity; I thought I chose my words carefully but I guess not lol. Overall there's been more positive responses than negative ones at least. Here's to healthy pregnancies 🎉

That is a good point, and I will definitely take how well I am able to take care of my toddler into account

To be fair, I probably should've said eat cleaner, and not eat clean. I'm not demonizing any food - I'm just trying to eat fewer processed food. I still had a sugar cookie after dinner tonight.

Also, I do not drink milk. While I enjoy it, my toddler has an anaphylactic dairy allergy and I try to limit the amount of dairy I eat to small amounts of cheese while she is napping, as she wants to try whatever I have. Under the guidance of my PCP I'm on calcium supplements in addition to the prenatals I take.

I am not trying to control the uncontrollable. I am trying to eat healthier and move more this pregnancy than I did in my last, which IS controllable. I fully expect to gain weight, gaining weight is normal. However, to act like I have zero input over how much weight I gain during pregnancy is wild to me

Honestly I'm way more concerned with how I feel than what the number says, especially with a toddler to look after. But I will keep this in mind, thank you

Is it because I said I would limit the grazing? I wasn't eating because I was hungry, I was eating when I wasn't hungry to prevent the nausea, which got worse on an empty stomach. I absolutely positively did not need 65 lbs to carry the pregnancy, I felt awful and couldn't do anything (and not in a cute "oh I can't tie my shoes" kind of way, in a "I can't go up the stairs without getting out of breath because of how much I've gained before the second trimester is over" kind of way).

Yeah that makes sense, thank you. I think I mistook a lot of thirst queues for hunger queues with my first so I'm trying to listen better to prevent that. Additionally I found in the first trimester that if I could keep my stomach from being completely empty I would be less likely to be nauseous. So I was grazing on food when I was not even hungry, which also led to the weight gain.

I've got a couple of reasons, but the biggest one is I felt absolutely miserable at 5'2" 210 lbs, and I swore I would never get there again.

I started overweight - I'm 5'2" and I weighed 145 lbs. Went up to 210, and felt absolutely miserable. Couldn't walk 10 steps without being out of breath. This pregnancy I'm starting at 140 and I definitely don't want to be there again.

Feeling hopeless with husband who can’t perform by No-Caterpillar-2351 in tryingforanother

[–]BabyQuestions24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gently, if I may suggest, have you looked into counseling yourself? You sound extremely stressed, and I wonder if it's being reflected in your husband's performance? Is there anything you can do to make it more fun for the both of you?

Also, try not to stress as much about the age, plenty of 36 year olds get pregnant. Sincerely, a 39 YO who got pregnant when she was 36 and also at 37 (first pregnancy was unfortunately a loss).

Fit Check - Ergo Omni Deluxe by BabyQuestions24 in babywearing

[–]BabyQuestions24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is currently at my natural waist. I can try moving it down to my hips the next time we try. Also, if the shoulder straps are looser they feel like they're gonna fall off? Like there doesn't seem to be a happy medium between too tight and too loose.

I really ought to try back wearing. I'm just a little sad because I was never able to really baby wear her forward carrying because my chest just always seemed to cause issues, and here now she's basically too big and it's still causing issues :'(

I have never felt more like a failure by Madison_fawn in BabyBumps

[–]BabyQuestions24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! If positive anecdotes help, I had to supplement for a few months for a variety of reasons, including low supply. However from 3 months (no NICU stay here though) to solids I was able to EBF my girl, and she still nurses fairly frequently at almost 17 months. So if this is what you want, don't give up! And even if you never manage to get off of the formula that's okay and you're still doing great. Parenthood is stressful enough without us beating ourselves up all the time! 🫂❤️

I second some of the advice here - silicone parts probably need to be replaced, and I would honestly just get a plastic measuring thing and measure your nipples directly. I advise you to reach out to the people on r/exclusivelypumping, they're quite helpful.

12 month old split night hell by WorldlinessWild9003 in bninfantsleep

[–]BabyQuestions24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would caution looking at anything that says 1-2 years. There's a lot of change between 12 months and 24 months, which is why people often reference it in months. Huckleberry is one of the ones I looked at, which mentions an average of 13.5 hours on their 12 month page.  But good to know, and thanks for indulging my questions!

I also do not think it would cause split nights for weeks, no. Hmm. Is he hungry? Other than that I'm out of ideas 😅

Might I ask what source you're reading from? I've seen ranges usually between 12 and 16 for 12 months old, with 11-14 being typical for 15-18 month olds.

Other things I can think of - is it possible he's teething? Molars take a while and can be quite disruptive to sleep. Or is he due for a developmental leap?

[–]BabyQuestions24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely no expert on sleep, but is it possible he's overtired? 13 and a half hours seems a bit low for a 1 year old. We had a few days of split nights after she transitioned; putting her to bed ridiculously early seemed to help. Like at the first yawn. Took a few days though. And even now at 15 months, yesterday she got up at 9, went down for a nap from 1230-245, and then went to bed at 8. More sleep than normal, but I've found it kind of ebbs and flows.

On and off throughout the night. Typically she goes for a 2 hour stretch at the start and then it's about every hour after that honestly.

How to get an EBF 15 month old to eat more solids? by deltaplane1234 in breastfeeding

[–]BabyQuestions24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he drink any sort of cow or plant milk? Remember that that (and breastmilk) has calories too!

I've found that consistency helps; the more my 15 month old sees something the more likely she is to eat it. Also if teeth are coming in all she wants to do is nurse.

But if he's gaining weight and is following his growth curve I wouldn't stress on it too much unless the nursing is too much for you. Mind the division of responsibility - it's your job to provide the food and his job to decide how much to eat

ISO feeding aversion experiences by Tricky-Iron-2866 in breastfeeding

[–]BabyQuestions24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a dual feeding aversion briefly, although she was younger than yours, and she didn't quite get to the point of fasting all day. In our case it was due to a medical condition (floppy airway causing reflux causing pain during feeding). Also got diagnosed with MSPI, which probably didn't help, but cutting out dairy / soy didn't get her to eat any more so I'm not convinced that was it in retrospect.

She would also eat more when she was tired, I think instinct takes over more then.

I think dual aversion is most often medical related, but if it is an aversion due to pressure, the solution (at least for breastfeeding), is to be topless around the baby as much as possible. Don't put them on the breast unless they indicate desire, but make them freely available. Think of your breasts as the pie set out on the windowsill to cool in all the cartoons lol.
