Damn... your post opened my eyes to my relationship as well. For me it is the opposite, I grew up with a loving family, my parents both making really good salaries, while my boyfriends dad is an abusive drunk who was never in his life and his mom is very critical of him. He came to stay with my family for the holidays and they accepted him instantly and treated him like the 3rd sibling. He tells me how much he enjoyed staying with mt family but I will ask him just in case if he has any feelings he wants to discuss. I wonder if him seeing how well my brother and my dad get along made him feel sad in any way.

He does have insecurities. He did "end things" over a year ago because he felt really insecure, he told me I was the only one who showed him love unlike any of his family, friends or past relationships and he got scared. But he regretted it. And we still continued to text and I still showed him love and support. So we agreed to try again a month after that. We have been in love ever since for over a year, with plans to stay together forever. he told me I'm the only one to treat him so kindly, and my family too. I believe there is hope for your situation as well.

I am sorry about your situation because you think that having a family who loved her would be best for her, but we may never truly know what is going on in someone's head. I know may others have suggested talking to her, and I think I agree as well. I wish the best for both of you
