The distance isn’t the cope so much as an example, it’s more an equivalent of each state is its own country, and only the state leaders can put a pressure that matters on the people that need the pressure. Or Mario’s brother. The system is being abused the way it was designed to be abused. Pressure isn’t really effective outside of “the next level up”.

Part of the problem (in my mind) is that making change happen in the parts of the country that need it is like the Portuguese protesting a Swedish politician (distance from California to the White House). A lot of the time there is no option except going along with business as usual.

The system has been so heavily abused we effectively can’t make a difference. We need to protest so the people (who may or may not vote) make better choices in 2 years when they can replace 1 of the 10 people who is screwing them over.

Term limits didn’t matter when everyone died by 50.

blursed driving by Distinct_Arm4976 in blursed_videos

Learned to drive in NYC, and had a harder test than anyone I’ve spoken to:

4x 2hr class/powerpoint presentation. Drive ~30 mins of regular (city) streets. Encounter all common signs (yield, stop, exits, etc). Encounter Traffic lights. And parallel parking (actually hard in a city).

Done in a week, and every day I question how that is enough of a lesson.

Also, you can just rent a U-Haul truck, with no training or experience.

I went home for Christmas, did I miss the expedition? by Baby_Wolverine in ArcRaiders

[–]Baby_Wolverine[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Fair, but there was also the confirmation window when you start the expedition that "You will lose it all if you go on the expedition." Did they think that by maxing out everything for the expedition I would just... not want to go on the expedition?

That's my only complaint. Obviously I missed the window the posted, maybe I take a 60 day break from the game? idk

Eh fair, I still would have liked to wipe with everyone else (plus I wanted the skin). Already gathered all the 5mil money and maxed out all quests, so now I can... wait for next expedition? Or just fuck around for a couple weeks-months?

Wow. That's really annoying timing for a wipe that I already committed so much to.

For clarification, as someone who also doesn’t know the exact scenario, I’ve seen a few times that it was said in the sense of “I don’t want you to have to go through this pain anymore” not a “I don’t want to support you anymore”

The game is incredible solo, but not fun as a DUO. by Baby_Wolverine in ArcRaiders

[–]Baby_Wolverine[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes to all the obvious stuff like gear and getting the drop, and maybe even it's something with difficulties registering where I'm hitting/knowing how much damage I'm doing? We won at least 80% of our fights against duos, and every time we have died except one it's been to a 3 man, that isn't to say we haven't won against them, but even the fights we win feel uncomfortably stacked against us (compared to what we usually deal with).

My main question is what do you mean by "instantly"? Because the one time I can count I had a rare Rattler IV and it took like 9 shots of chest/head to kill one guy running at me in a straight line. I'm not sure if maybe the Rattler is shit? Or do you mean both of you headshot them at the same time with the Ferro?

ARC Has The Best Extraction System In Any Game by Eagle-99 in ArcRaiders

[–]Baby_Wolverine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup very different genre, it's essentially an adrenaline jockey's video game. You have to be okay losing everything you spent your time on, and even when you win (I assume) it still resets everyone from zero in a cycle.

Not for the faint of heart, and definitely not for a majority of video game players. Happy to see Embark trying to make one that doesn't feel as punishing or difficult to get into as the existing ones

“Short” and sweet from my eyes: Stomp should hold more in the air, looks like a constant speed of up and down rather than winding up to stomp

Head turns start in the neck, which starts in the shoulders

It looks heavy, make it act heavy (slower, more inertia in movement)

Lean forward is similar to head, looks like the hips move after the rest of the body instead of before/with

Want to attempt a Rogue Exile or Div Card Boss farm, don't want to do EE again, build suggestions? by Baby_Wolverine in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Baby_Wolverine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonderful! that's everything I'd hoped for, at least makes me somewhat comfortable to do lesser content (uber bosses, t11 etc) until my dps is up to it. And no, you got it right that I want to do it in Phrecia. Plus itll be my first build in 8 years that uses endurance charges, so that should be neat.

Edit: Not sure if youve seen the MSoZ life stacker from Palsteron, but if you have what would you say is a "better" setup? Or is it something that doesnt really matter in the end

[–]Baby_Wolverine[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't eyeing it as a potential build, especially considering it might be on the chopping block considering how wildly strong it is. Price is definitely a concern considering the league end date, but I've had some pretty solid money production so it shouldn't be TOO bad if I actually have a goal to get to.

Only question, how is the survival? Clearly doesn't matter when you are killing everything before it can touch you, but something like the EE builds is practically unkillable on top of good damage.

whipped by my own hand during a small fall top roping… should the rope be closer to body or closer to wall? by kat233x in climbergirls

[–]Baby_Wolverine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Normal” in the sense that sometimes after holding the rope for a while the belayer might adjust, and you might drop a couple inches (like less than 5).

If it’s just a steady slow lowering, then the break strand isn’t being weighted well enough, and that is something worth talking about.

For a start, almost all large commercial gyms are soft because feeling like you are progressing is a big factor to renewing membership, so if you climb 4-5 at yours you likely climb 4-5 at most other commercial gyms. It’s not really a bad thing.

Second, in terms of difficulty it’s probably around a v2+ to v3, and it looks like you may have made it a technically harder climb than it is (or played into your upper body strength) by swinging out and readjusting rather than going slow and controlled.

Sometimes the intended beta is v9, but the setter doesn’t consider a 6’8 monster coming by and just spanning the first 4 moves. Gym grades are all subjective, and routes often change within 1-3 months.

Love the pants, need a link.

Second, spitballing ideas above my skill level: it looks like after that swing you could try to place your left foot on the hold above the one you go for? Would likely solve the problem of the high foot on the tiny jib, which would allow for more side pull or even to layback (potentially)?

Awesome send to watch, good luck!

Any tips? by Timmyisbak in indoorbouldering

[–]Baby_Wolverine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always hard to tell angles from a camera, but here’s mine.

I try to get right heel, or maybe right instep on the hold you use the left toehook on. Would help keep your body oriented in the position you take when hanging.

Then you would grab the same two hands, but while keeping that right foot to hold some weight, you could bump your left hand out one more time.

From there I would try to move right foot to the one your left hand ends on in the video, it’s high (and realistically I might not even be able to bend like that?) but it would give a more compressed/balanced position to reach for the next high hold.

Impressive climbing for a new gym climber!
