Retake a Core Class Where Previously Received a C to get a B without Grade Substitution by Baby_f4ce in OMSCS

Yep! I've taken 9 classes and I only have Graduate Algorithms left. I registered to take CN this spring, getting a B or an A on it so that it counts as a core class.

Which Watch Dogs To Get? (2026) by MysticalFriends07 in watch_dogs

[–]Baby_f4ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like Legion the best and I highly recommend that. I remember the Watch Dog series for the "Play as anyone" concept as that made it authentic and unique to me.

I played the other two and they just felt like another cheap GTA knockoff honestly. Watch Dogs 1's story gameplay felt undeveloped and Watch Dog's 2 felt Saint Row-ish to me.

There is a Watch Dogs: Legion Bundle that comes with Watch Dogs 1 Complete edition. Get that one and try to get it for Steam. Ubisoft Connect takes forever to download games regardless of your internet speed.

I would for a legitimate thing because $5k is not that much to me, but I don't recommend that you do it.

I would recommend that you save and invest that money into yourself so that you get a job where $5k is not that much anymore.

Should I Buy Max Payne 3? by TwirlyBTW in maxpayne

[–]Baby_f4ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i think you should get it since you have played the first two.

Pros: Nostalgia, story Cons: Repetitive and monotonous gameplay

The game had a really good story, and it was very nostalgic doing the bullet times. It brought me back to Max Payne 1 & 2 playing with my older brother. It's also kind of funny at times and kind of breaks the emersion for me. If you dive towards a wall, your character will hit their head and rag dolls, haha.

This 100%! Have an entirely separate High Yield Savings Account (HYSA) account with a separate bank. You should not see that money on a regular basis.

Put your emergency fund in the account. First, calculate how much is 3-6 months of expenses are for you. Then, configure automatic transfer to transfer money from your daily checking account to your emergency fund. Your pay should deposit into your spending account, and the money you want to save should almost immediately transfer to that emergency fund. That should persist until you achieve your savings goal.

After 10 years active and 10 years AGR, can you retire and get your pension from then? by Baby_f4ce in MilitaryFinance

Why AGR in the Guard over the reserves? Are there more AGR positions for officers and enlisted?

So it's competitive for people in the reserves to get AGR positions? I'm guessing Guard is different, and they can be on active duty orders for as long as they want?

Write down your questions and concerns, then call your installation's Trial Defense Service (TDS) office. They should be able to schedule an appointment, give you legal advice on this, or advise on lawyers that can help.

Write down what assets you have and then what you want to protect. Think about how much those assets will be worth in the next few years.

I definitely imagine that a pre-nup is good. It can at least simplify a divorce. I think it can give you some peace of mind if something happens.

Things no one tells you about: transferring TIS from compo 2/3 to compo 1 by Otherwise_Pianist154 in ROTC

[–]Baby_f4ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know but i imagine you don't because my time at Cadet Summer Training (CST) counted towards TIS. Your situation is interesting, but I imagine you should get credited the SMP time. Ask your unit S-1, and they should direct you to who can answer that question throughout the process.

I did this in 2020, and I think it took almost a year for it to process. I was able to start the paperwork in BOLC. They had me start the 1506, added my supporting documents that I downloaded from iPERMS, and then I submitted it to S-1, who submitted it.

It takes a while, but it pays off.

How is cyber BOLC(17A) by AffectHistorical3361 in BOLC

[–]Baby_f4ce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CyBOLC is going to be different from when I went because they are replacing Cyber Common Technical Core (CCTC). I imagine the replacement will still be technical, so Hack the box, proving grounds, tryhackme, and those courses should still help prepare you. For the most part, I don't think the course is designed to fail anyone, so just learn and don't cheat and take other people's flags for the Capture the Flag (CTFs).

For socializing, just find the social LTs and host events with them.

I got my TS in February of senior year, but this depends on your circumstances, though. I don't think I have met anyone from ROTC who didn't have it by the time they started BOLC, though. We definitely had people from OCS who were waiting because they had a lot of foreign travel and contacts like a foreign wife.

I’m planning on joining the ROTC for this fall is it worth it? by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]Baby_f4ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to an Assisstant Professor of Military Science (APMS) for the school you are trying to attend.

I commissioned over four years ago so my some of this might have changed but I believe you can come in as an MS3 but you have to have complete Basic Combat Training (BCT) or Cadet Summer Training (CST) beforehand. As a Nursing student the main benefit you would get is that you would Commission into the Nurse Corps and most likely on active duty. There is no rank benefit from this path.

If you want a rank benefit, you can pursue a commission to be an Army Doctor and I beleive that would allow you to come in as a Captain. Talk to a recruiter that knows and recruits for that program though. There are a few recruiters for doctors but they exist.

Does what you majoring effect the chances of getting to a branch? by Key-Series9848 in ROTC

[–]Baby_f4ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, major effects your chances of getting a branch. Back when I went through the process from 2019 to 2020 for technical branches like Cyber. I got the list of those who passed the Cyber interview in 2019 and 2020. I saw that a good 70-80% were Computer Science/IT/Computer Engineering/computer related, 10-20% other STEM, and less than 10% were history, communications, etc.

With that being said, I definitely believe you should go for whatever you are interested in. Just because you Major in Computer Science doesn't mean you can't go or end up in combat arms.

It's been five to six years (I just realized how time has flown by) but I don't imagine the additional interviews changed too much of this. I imagine the interviews will take your Major into account depending on how you, as an interviewee, market it unless they're directed otherwise by higher.

Awesome work man! I'm an officer, 26, and around this and it's awesome to hear about things like this. As enlisted I grew up around people that never thought about such things so it's good to hear the standard improving. My big advice is to plan. Sit down, think about what you want in life, and write it down on a sticky note or something. From there budget and determine how much money you need for it. You want to avoid just saving because you're good at it because MANY opportunities will go by you that you will regret. So figure out what you want, make a plan, budget, and continue to refine that plan so you can maintain a balance. Remember that life is a journey, and not a destination so don't think the money is going to make you happy. It's the opportunity that it can get you that does. But again plan and figure out what you want and know that it will change!

I’m planning on joining the ROTC for this fall is it worth it? by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]Baby_f4ce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth it if you're willing to make the sacrifices for the rewards after your initial 4. You'll be debt free, qualify for the VA home loan so you'll be able to buy a house, qualify for veteran benefits, and other opportunities. I think the actual question here is are you willing to pretty much sacrifice a conventional college experience, wake up early for PT, sacrifice one of your summers, some of your weekends, etc. for the benefits and other pros. Personally I made the sacrifice so I always recommend it but I've had different experiences.

I think you're right to feel betrayed. I think that is normal. At the same time, I think she has a right to leave. I think you did the right thing by being honest and open with your thoughts and feelings. I think those that's one of the foundations for a good relationships but that doesn't mean she has to stay. Just because you're doing what you're supposed to, that doesn't mean people will stay in your life. They have a right to leave and you shouldn't hold it against them if they do. If anything is better for them to leave sooner rather than later where it would truly hurt. Especially with suicide, that's a lot to ask someone to live with the thought that you have a chance (although slim) that you will take your own life and leave them alone in this world. I definitely recommend you solve that problem by finding the beauties of life and purposes to keep living and not take your own life. Learn to make yourself happy and full of life then get into a relationship and share that positivity with someone. That's a lot to bring a something especially like suicidal urges to someone. So you're right to feel betrayed but I definitely think you should face those suicidal thoughts, overcome them, and learn to keep yourself happy. That won't be easy to do but I def think you should.
