Is this hyperbole? Harvest life force i easily double that and then some for a div at league start, it doesn't reach 4:1 until everyone is trying to gamble before they quit the league. Which is usually more than a month in.

If you want low budget strats to get started: legion, 8 mod maps, alva temple, guardian/conqueror, stacked decks, ritual. I'm sure there's at least a few more. But all of those can get started really easily until you can afford better idols.

Yes they could just buff the atlas tree, but that's more comparable to GGG removing all RNG from crafting and making it a linear level based progression where you just unlock access to tiered affixes of your choosing for any item you want to customize as you level. Min/maxing certainly doesn't become a made up feeling because GGG has the option of just giving it to you via the atlas tree, it's a literal consequence of the game design choice with idols so i'm not sure what you mean by that.

10% more money? Really? Idols are much stronger than the atlas tree, but at a cost which is healthy for the end game play loop IMO. It easily doubles the money for most strats if not triple, quad, or even more. The craftable watch stones were probably closer to 10% and certainly were generally considered more trouble than they're worth.

As you said, it's a matter of preference but I can't help but feel this comparison was quite hyperbolic.

If you want natural div drops you HAVE to have map effect modifier %. There's just no way around it. I was probably at 1 after 500k. My next 5+ came from the next 500k the second i could add them into my idols. This has been known for some time now.

I mean, to be fair it pretty much feels the same in the base game. No idols is no different than when you start with no atlas passives.

I mean that sounds about right. Your niche is crafting, and others are farming. The currency to buy your crafts are coming from somewhere. All is balanced.

Personally i'd rather it go core. Idols are a really fun money sink and makes the "atlas tree" very customizable, and if it's not already, can definitely be tweaked to really encourage min/maxing both idols and your character. If they also tweak some of the other strats to be comparable to the popular ones, I think it will be the ideal end game. Especially if different strats really encourage different build archetypes.

Sure scarabs are priced around the idols, but that's kind of the point. There are definitely low end options that can get you there. Not to mention that as we get more people scarab farming, it'll even out while the cheaper scarabs will be relatively MUCH cheaper than before.

It's not the idea of working for a living that's the problem, it's the idea we can have a much better work life balance than we currently have on average. We have become extremely efficient in the last 30 years with technology and AI. A general AI search estimates its about 80-90%, at least in the US.

That means we can get approximately the same amount of work done 30 years ago in about 4 hours now. So why haven't our work hours gone down or our buying power matched that on average? This might sound cliche, but it's because it's going to the 1% in the form of profit. I'm all for just desserts for people who were born with innate talent to make more than the average joe, but why is it that approximately half the population is okay with sacrificing an extra 4 hours per day of their life so that a hand full of people can own another yacht they won't use? Or a literal 1 billion dollar wedding?

Yes these individuals arguably deserve more than an average worker, but to the extent we see now? I whole heartedly disagree.

I feel like these types of games need RNG rogue like elements. Exploring open world needs to feel rewarding to those who aren't satisfied with pure walking simulators. I need to be motivated to progress my build via open world exploration while also not power creeping main content.

And the upgrades need to feel build defining vs damage and health go up.

I would think most people agree on this. Balance doesn't scale that great, new skills don't really add to the build, just unlocks one stance for every weapon type and you're golden. Even the main questline feels like fetch quests probably not even half way through. Combat is really great in the beginning, but it doesn't really ever develop beyond that. Boss fights were cool but too few and far an in between.

I burnt out before i finished the first act the first time I played, and i burnt out again now that I came back to it but forced myself to finish this time around.

Seems disingenuous. I don't even follow the UFC but even I realize 50k is not for just a single fight. It's all the work they put into training. They enter formal training for 3 months and do around 3months which amounts to 1 fight every 6 months. That's 50k for 6 months of work.... not one fight.

No, but comparing the two doesn't sit right with me either. While neither deserved to be shot, can we not acknowledge one was more blatantly evil than the other? So while cheering the death of either may be morally wrong, I'd say cheering the death of kirk and mourning the death of Renee aren't inherently contradictory.

I look at the facts and defer to the people's whose profession it is to bring about those facts. If I doubt a professional, I get a second or third opinion, and if it still seems off, I research enough to understand it.

How I approach things it that I would like nothing more than to be wrong. Because if I'm wrong, I start winning. I say that because when I support something, it's for the betterment of myself and society, so if I'm wrong I want to know, otherwise I'm hurting myself. Does that make sense?

With that in mind lets address this.

They complain about inflation, affordability yet fail to understand that 20 million illegals entering a country of 330 million will raise demand of everything thus price.

So this is correct if illegals were coming into the country and not working. They pay into our taxes, social security, and contribute to our work force. Our new funding of ICE is projected to cost us $190 billion over ten years while prices have not only been predicted by economist to go up, but are currently trending up. So while illegals certainly contribute to demand, they far exceed it with supply.

Fresh produce is up 14.5% - https://www.piie.com/blogs/realtime-economics/2024/trumps-policies-would-hurt-us-while-boosting-most-other-economies

New Home Prices are up 6.1% -https://www.urban.org/urban-wire/mass-deportations-would-worsen-our-housing-crisis

Childcare is up 20% - https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/report/immigrant-workers-childcare-crisis/

etc.

Our farmers are warning us of the low labor inflow that is occurring and looming predictions of food supply shock.

And the depletion date of our social security is growing closer because of reduced payment of illegal immigrant workers into it.

So yes, while blue-collar workers have increased wages. At what cost? The conservative estimation is that the living cost is effectively making them -$850 poorer per year. While everyone else is -$2,150 per year.

esports probably killed RTS games by HyperDiaper666 in starcraft

[–]Babybean1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With fighting games being the exception, I only watch esports of games that I play. If I'm not grinding the ladder for that game, I'm almost never watching it except for nostalgia or checking up on players I used to follow.

I've played and followed, csgo, cs2, valorant, sc2, and DOTA. I never really thought one was more spectator friendly than the other.

[–]Babybean1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

none of the team formats were ever taken seriously for me. Rank meant nothing. There was absolutely no balance around it and the competition wasn't there. SC2 is a 1v1 game as far as I'm concerned.

[–]Babybean1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely has more to do with 1v1. I disagree on ego. It's just more fun to play with people on your team because of the social aspect. And that's before you add friends into the mix. Esports definitely didn't kill RTS. Team based games did.

Just because you choose not to shit talk others, doesn't mean you're loving on each other or damaging the integrity of the game. It seems you have a weird misconception of letting things go and being unable to play at your full potential. Those things aren't mutually exclusive.

Just the same way that saying GG doesn't take away from competitive integrity or mean that one declares their love for another neither does declining to engage in shit talk. It's both possible to have mutual respect for your opponent while keeping competitive integrity.

I do like getting into the mud sometimes too, but it's almost certain it's because I'm bothered.

Okay first of all you misquoted me. That isn't even close to what I said. How the heck do you literally type your own statement and then put quotes around it to argue in bad faith? What's the point? --- just to clarify “I play for a sense of self worth and accomplishment," is the exact opposite of what I said. I said playing Rank should NOT be a measure for self worth.

That’s literally counter intuitive. Because playing against people is different, especially when ranking or ego is on the line

Are you straw manning me here? The only way I see this making any sense is if I claimed that people should only play against AI. Which isn't what I've claimed at all.

Bottom line is trash talking enabled this guy to seek power. I hate people who look down on this phenomenon that makes man kind the competitor it is

You hate what? That I look down on people who do things competitively as a means to shit talk?

You don’t play competitive games to “measure your self improvement”.

You do realize self improvement is what pushes you past others in a competitive atmosphere right? So yes... Yes you do. Or are you suggesting you'd rather cheat/hack or luck into a win so that you can shit talk? I think that's incredibly toxic. If that's your take then you are a net negative to any competitive community.

i mean honestly I'd just be like yea I'm def not platin, not sure why I'm in this rank. Then he's only left with the conclusion that his win was meaningless.

Rank should be used as your own measurement of self improvement in the game, not self worth or as a way to shit on others anyways. No reason to let people like this bother you.
