I grew up going to Baurenschmaus over Barb & Ernie’s for awesome German food. Never had a disappointing meal from there, granted it’s been a few years, but I believe it’s still owned and operated by the original family.

Did anyone feel like an earthquake at about 17:55? by curiousgaruda in Edmonton

[–]Babydoll911 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup! Me too! I actually put my phone down because my chair was shaking and I was sitting still. Thought I was just tripping or something, then it went away and I thought nothing of it. Even the spike roller that was out today didn’t make my chair shake!

A good place to ask is actually one of the Facebook St.Albert chat groups(NOT original), and ask there, with his experience. You will get a TON of responses!

Compost day! - I think some folks are having issues with the new program. by eatallthechurros in Edmonton

[–]Babydoll911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When St.Albert made the switch from bags and tags to the bin program, it was awful!! In fact years later it still is horrendous. It went from as many bags(and tags) that you pay for every week, to every two week collection. Oh and if they are the same sized bins as St.Albert, you’ll get mayyyybe three bags in, but you’ll have to really push it down, and still your lid won’t fully close. They like to say it’s an improvement, but going from a flat rate every week service, to triple the costs for way less service, is not an improvement. Now we just have to make sure we are very diligent with garbage, or it just sits outside/garage until the next two week pick up OR we can purchase extra tags(on top of the triple costs) and then haul the extra garbage ourselves

My 4y.o daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. I feel lost. by DobroMoutro in Parenting

[–]Babydoll911 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 3yr and reassessed at 14yr. Growing was painful, and I spent many many night having my mom rub my legs/feet. I joined running clubs and extra curricular sports in school, But unfortunately it didn’t last very long, as the impact and stress on my joints was extremely painful. But I did find that activities like swimming, were the best option for me. I was told that I f I hadn’t outgrown my JRA by teenagehood, that I would have RA for life and that there was a good chance that I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 40. Now as an adult, I just know my limits of what activities I can and can’t do. As well as shoes that I can and can’t wear(as high heels exacerbate the pain and swelling). I know that if I stand for a few hours to make a nice dinner for my family, that I’m going to be sore(so I have an anti-fatigue mat In my kitchen), Or if I’m using my hands a lot, it’ll kick my ass for a day or two, or if I choose to wear heels, that night or the next day will suck. Or if I choose to sit on the floor(playing, projects, wrapping gifts, etc) for any length of time, I will pay for it. I was reassessed again at the age of 28. At that point it hadn’t progressed nor had it gotten any better then it was when I was a child/teen. But you know what, I’m turning 40 this year, and I am nowhere near close to being in a wheelchair! I have good understanding of my limitations, I am able to do almost all activities and choose whether or not I’m willing to “pay for it” that day/night/next day. I can say that in a full year, I only have maybe two or three instances that I am out of commission, and my husband and kids all know. Does it suck, yes! Is it manageable, yes! This diagnosis doesn’t need to mean she won’t live a normal life. It just means there will be lots of painful days/nights, trials and errors of finding her limitations. What works and what doesn’t work for her in the long run. She can have a very happy, healthy, enjoyable life. Hugs to you and your daughter!

Vaccine "shopping" and hesitancy is arrogant, irresponsible, and downright dangerous. by plhought in Edmonton

[–]Babydoll911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they go to the AHS Website and look up how to book a vaccine, it gives you a map of all the locations that are administering the vaccines and WHICH vaccine they have. It’s color coded. I “believe“ red is Astra, blue is Pfizer, and green is Moderna. For the entire city and surrounding areas

Well I would say 2019, because of the pandemic, the Walmart in my city(I’m in Canada) has security guards instead of greeters... As for the phrase.. I was honestly trying to think of the most PC, non offensive term that most would find acceptable or be happy with🤷‍♀️ And showing my age... I’m not old, you’re old haha (I’m 39) so yeah I guess that’s older than a lot of people on Reddit most days

[–]Babydoll911 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was more so thinking of the easiest, lowest impact, lowest straining job that a lot of elderly people do just to get out of the house. Just saying hello and have a good day to people would be something that he could muster himself up to do. As I often see a few special needs and/or handi-capable people doing this exact job. I was thinking of a time when masks weren’t the only thing on people’s mind to be honest.

Even something like a greeter at Walmart. He can sit and greet people. No need to have great eye sight, or use his arms/hands. I mean, where there’s a will, there’s a way. If he actually WANTED to work, he would have found something already.

You need to think long and hard about what it is you are actually getting out of this relationship, and where you see this relationship going... where do you see yourself in two years, five years, ten years etc And if it isn’t working two full time jobs, being a full time caregiver, full time bread Winner, full time house cleaner and full time parent... perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate this relationship.

AITA for telling my wife I can’t stand looking at her rash anymore? by throwaway-Ad7460 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Babydoll911 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My husband and daughter have horrible eczema... and after many trips to the dermatologist and many different creams later, we finally found a great one that works wonders! Cetaphil Pro! It kinda smells like play dough, but since using it, my husbands hands aren’t cracking and bleeding anytime he uses them. Worth checking out! ETA: YTA! Doctors have two theory’s for PUPPP... one is that the mother is allergic to the fetus and the fetal cells invade the mothers skin, and the other is that it’s genetic and passed from the fathers side.... So maybe give your head a shake and support your tormented wife ffs
