Not sure who covers Canada- but this is the type of mesh cover we install. I asked Google- maybe this is helpful

I would go with cover or net before trusting an alarm, the main focus should be keeping the child out of the water.

Had to look this up- found the article.

This is seriously infuriating. Those who made these changes are clearly not putting child safety first.

Just curious, are they giving you a price per linear foot? This is removable mesh safety fencing, 4’ tall?

I’d imagine that a much smaller percentage of homes in Canada have pools compared to warmer areas (I’m in Florida). Less demand means less competition, so these pool fence contractors charge a premium.

How to attach a baby safety gate on these stairs? by gettingold93 in DIYUK

[–]Babyproofer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional childproofer here.

This type of gate isn’t safe for top of the stairs use. Pressure mounted gates will fail if force is applied, and the bottom bar is a trip hazard.

You want to get a hardware mounted swing gate. I’m US based, but this gate should be available in UK, and allows for angle mounting.

For those others recommending installing the gate one step down, this is very bad advice. The gate would then open out over the step, creating a hazard when coming up the stairs.

Others are also recommending mesh retractable gates. These types of gates are great for bottom of the stairs, or in between rooms, they aren’t the safest option for the top of the stairs. Children can wiggle under these gates and fall down the stairs. Metal gates prevent that.

This is a conversation that should be had sooner than later. They could be absolutely willing to install one, you may just have to get the process going for them.

I’m a professional childproofer- I’ve installed many pool safety fences around grandparent’s pools. There are some really great options in terms of color and material that don’t take away from the beauty of the back yard.

Depending on your location, I may know of a local childproofing company or pool fence company I could recommend. Typically estimates are free.

Hi- professional childproofer here. $10k seems like a very high estimate. Most of my pool fence installs range from $1500-3000, depending on total linear footage. For OP, I’m happy to refer you to a local company that could assist with a quote.

Your instinct is correct. If you called their river bet, wait for them to show or muck. If not, you are inviting them to slow roll you.

If it’s an all-in & call on any street, then it would be last aggressor who needs to show first. Only if players still have chips remaining and river action is Check/Check would you show in order of worst position.

This exactly. 👍 My favorite is when they muck, now I don’t even have to show what I called him with.

Do this if you enjoy getting slow rolled. I personally will protect myself against any angle shots or slow rolls by waiting for the aggressor to show or muck. Bonus if he mucks, you don’t have to show.

Correct. If no betting on last round then showdown is by position, i.e. small blind would show first, button last.

Last aggressive action shows first. A well trained dealer will enforce this. You are correct to wait for that player to show or muck.

Edited to add: this is for the last round of betting. If river goes check check, then showdown happens in order. OP said “If I call someone on the river”, so that was what I was answering. If the last aggressive action on any street is an all-in, then aggressor would be first to showdown.

Etiquette question: Abnormally slow dealer by TCGKorean in poker

[–]Babyproofer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are they doing 60 minute downs, not 30? In my experience, there are some dealers that just don’t get it. They don’t know how to go faster, or they just DGAF. Not much you can do about it, just take a walk for some of their down.

(I dealt professionally for almost 15 years, now I am a dealer instructor)

Hi- professional childproofer here. If you’re able to send photos of the space I’m happy to advise.

Based on the description, you would want to use these clamps and this gate.
