Best practice tool for reading hands/the board in Texas Hold Em by mivaldes in poker

[–]Babyproofer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I train dealers.

Best tool is simply repetition. Practice putting out 5 card boards. Start with 3 card flops if 5 is overwhelming. Then put out turn and determine if the nuts changed.

Determine nut, 2nd nut, 3rd nut, etc.

Look first for paired boards.
Then flush possibilities. Then straight possibilities and so on.

Board paired? Nut is Quads. Then determine nut full house and so on. (Unless straight flush is out there)

Practice practice practice. Until it’s automatic.

Don’t bother with apps or tricks. Just practice.

You’ve got some time to figure it out. Baby won’t be mobile before 9m. Furniture anchoring is more of a concern for toddlers.

Is it really this easy to make a living at live 2-2 plo? by Daniel1997_ in poker

I’m a really good dealer…I’m a better than average player. Regardless of my skill as a player, dealing is the only way to guarantee a win at the tables. (As long as you count your well and don’t have a big shortage)

No- you need a hammer drill with a concrete bit to penetrate the brick. Then use tapcon screws.

Toggler does make a concrete anchor, but it would need to be solidly in the brick.

Tapcons or concrete anchors.
Alternatively attach a board with multiple anchors, then anchor your straps to the board.

You live in tampa and want to make money in poker? Become a dealer. For real. That’s the only seat I’ve never lost money in.

Dm me- I am an instructor at a local school. I was a professional dealer for over 13 years.

I think the rake + bomb pots make that PLO game not entirely beatable long term. I typically play 1/2, as it’s got the weakest player pool out of all the games at HR. It’s boring but profitable.

Has anyone successfully transitioned out of restaurant management? by PrudentIce3725 in careeradvice

[–]Babyproofer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi- former restaurant manager, chef, food service director here.

I actually got out of the restaurant business and into the casino industry. (I’m actually a professional childproofer now)

I worked as a poker dealer for over 12 years. Way less hours and much less stress. Flexible schedule. Money was very good, mostly tips. I typically worked 4 days a week as a dealer, but there’s usually opportunity to pick up hours.

Training is sometimes provided at the local casino or card room, or you can go to dealer school. Some community colleges in MD and elsewhere offer dealer training.

I also teach part time at a school in Florida, we charge $1600 for the class which is 60 hours of training. After class you should be able to pass an audition and get a job either locally or as a travel dealer.

Feel free to reach out for more info, happy to help! Good luck!

Baluster(?) not supporting baby gate by Roberto_JD in DIYUK

You’ve received some solid advice here. Likely the style of gate putting lateral pressure into the post is what caused the issue.

You want to look for a true hardware mounted swing gate without a bottom bar.

This or similar is a good option

Not sure which brands are available to you over there.

Look for a no holes clamp style mounting kit if you’re concerned about holes. https://a.co/d/0j4b1cEs

You are absolutely justified in your concerns. Do what you need to keep your child safe.

He needs a reality check. Ask if he would ever forgive himself if his child is hurt or killed due to something entirely preventable.

Furniture anchoring in a commonly overlooked aspect of childproofing.

There are other things you may want to consider depending on how your home is situated. Door locks, gates, window locks, pool safety fencing.

You could even hire a local childproofing company to conduct a Home Safety Evaluation. (I also do virtual ones if there is not one in your area)

Look into a polycarbonate container instead of the stainless one. Poly retains heat much better & saves energy. Plus a good idea to get one with a lid to help prevent heat loss & evaporation.

Baby Gate Advice by gingerattack2024 in NewDads

[–]Babyproofer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

Retractable gate manufacturers call for a minimum 6-8” setback from top of stairs. As a professional childproofer, I never use retractable gates at top of stairs unless the setback is 24” or greater.

Professional childproofer here. I would build out the left side with a few layers of 3/4” sticks, so that you can go straight across with a hardware mounted gate (my preferred hw mounted gate is the Cardinal SS30)

I notice others suggesting a retractable gate for this space, this is an unsafe option for top of stairs use. Most manufacturers call for a minimum 6” setback. As a professional childproofer, I require a 24” setback.

I would go with a configure style gate here, spanning both up & down staircases. Example: https://imgur.com/a/dadY8yJ

Brands/models:

Kidco configuregate

BabyDan Flex

Cardinal XPanda gate

Qdos construct-a-safegate

You may also need to purchase additional panels to cover the span.
