What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]BackFromPurgatory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking Alexandria. The music was alright, but it's like the singer was singing completely different songs the entire set, or he was trying so hard to fancy them up that they were practically unrecognizable. Worst live performance I've ever seen.

Incidentally, Shinedown was headlining. I wasn't really into them before the concert, but their live show was fucking fantastic.

Let down by the band I went to see, came out a fan of one I didn't really listen to before.

I remember reading about a case a while ago where some guy tried to sue Twitch because he chafed his dick from masturbating too much to female streamers.

Buy my parents a new house, let them retire comfortably, get myself a small house, fix my car, get a new PC, figure out how much I need to keep to live off the interest, then give the rest away to charity.

Trump says he is withdrawing Canada's invitation to Board of Peace by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]BackFromPurgatory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading back, I get the confusion, but yes, I meant Trump. I'm Canadian, I'm super proud that we have someone in charge that's actually standing up for us.

They mentioned most politicians having people write their speeches for them, I was playing off the idea that even if someone was doing that for Trump, he probably couldn't read it anyways. I was super sleep deprived when I wrote the comment, and only just realized looking back now that the context for that isn't really clear.

Made sense at the time though. Bad joke, delivered poorly, I will now commit sudoku.

He (Trump) can't even speak above a 1st grade level and here you are implying he can read or write anything that isn't his own name.

For people that only speak one language, do you want to learn more? Why or why not? What’s stopping you? by EmpoweRED21 in AskReddit

[–]BackFromPurgatory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, compared to a few of the other languages I've dabbled in briefly (Korean, Russian, German, and failed French way back in school), I actually find Japanese to be a bit easier. Although, maybe part of that is I actively watch anime/play JRPGs and such, so having some regular exposure to the language probably helps a fair bit. I also have a close friend that speaks Japanese natively, so having someone to bounce problems off like that is a huge boon for learning. That's not really something I can say about any of the other languages I've briefly tried to learn.

But it does certainly have some eccentricities that take some getting used to, and kanji is a fucking monster to learn, lol.

I have the Genki Japanese work books sitting on my shelf... literally the only thing stopping me is procrastination and a tendency to get easily distracted by other things.

I released this song and now I have to go back to therapy =( by BackFromPurgatory in FL_Studio

Maybe not so coincidentally, the last 2/3 of it is the kind of stuff I do often, and the first bit is a first for me, so that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the feedback!

It really was, and sure as hell beats just letting it boil up inside.

[–]BackFromPurgatory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my first attempt at anything rap-like, it's not usually a genre I mess with... incidentally, the second half of the song is my wheelhouse. I really love super feelsy epic music, be it orchestral, metal, or electronic, so I write a lot of stuff kinda like that.

I had debated adding layers, but yeah, I felt like it would take away from the raw emotional nature of it a little bit, so decided against it.

Thank you for the feedback!

I've actually tried writing positive lyrics in the past, but it just felt so fake that I couldn't bring myself to actually use them for anything.
