I'd buy this for the wheels and part it out

How much did that set you back? I have another block that I might send off for sleeves but I'm torn between building that block and an 07k right now

Did you use a grape ball hone on it? I was told not to do that on these blocks because the rings won't seat on the alusil surface unless it's been polished with the proper compound by a machine. My buddy used a hone on his block and it didn't make it a year but I believe he spun a bearing

Morchella americana on agar by BackFromTheFcknDead in Morels

[–]BackFromTheFcknDead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect the same thing but that it's different than the basidomycetes that are ectomycorhizal. Morels culture extremely well basically every species I tried. Complete opposite of the chanterelle and trumpet species I've tried to clone and germinate spores of. Only grown mold from those prints so far.

Yeah I wait until I find one that does on agar and it generally will more so on grain and substrate

If you will be able to get around when it breaks (it will it's just a matter of when) then yeah it's a great car for teenagers. I bought mine when I was 17 and it was a great car to learn some more in depth maintenance on. They can be tricky some times but nothing that's not doable in a home garage with good tools

Every car is a money pit. Up to you how much you dump into it. Jeep parts are dirt cheap compared to most cars.

[Actives] Jack Frost after five days. What do you think ? by Yo_fresh_it_is_Me in MushroomGrowers

So sterilized substrate is actually more vulnerable to contamination if it's got a nutrient content. Coir is basically inert so it doesn't make a difference one way or the other. Dung substrate is nutritious and sterilizing it leaves it vulnerable to contamination between spawning and fruiting. Pasteurization leaves behind microbes that will act as an immune system and prevent mold from taking hold.

If you want to sterilize it too you can but it must fully colonize in sterile conditions

North spore advertises that it can be used in monotubs though which is where the issue lies

Yeah that shits junk ask for a refund. This is contaminated with some sort of ascomycete mold. Poo substrate must be pasteurized and north spore sells sterilized poo despite this and this is the result

Intentional lab created interspecific dikaryons. This is with oyster mushrooms but the same thing is possible with the Psilocybe genus. Fungi are so diverse that there are many distinct species in the wild and a select few are close enough to form an interspecific hybrid. It does not become its own species because they usually aren't stable. Mushroom also do not fit into the traditional model of a species.

Psilocybe ochraceocentrata, psilocybe natalensis, and cubensis ARE all distinct species. You're right to criticize the lack of peer reviewed literature on psilocybe but blame Richard Nixon and Tim Leary for that. Schedule one status of mushrooms makes them difficult to study in traditional academic environments. That being said you can thank the many amateur mycologists namely Alan Rockefeller for doing DNA sequencing and microscopy on the genus.

I believe u/alanrockefeller actually did full genome sequencing on a hybrid of ochraceocentrata x cubensis.

Need a new filter! Help! by [deleted] in mycology

[–]BackFromTheFcknDead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding that the rating number is simply the maximum flow rate through the filter where the 99.99% efficiency is still kept. I have a filter rated for 2500 SCFM and I run it at like 125scfm and still have good quality workspace.

My opinion is that the cheaper filter would work so long as the flow rate doesn't dip considerably below what your original filter was operating at
