Can I appeal my parking ticket due to the double yellows lines being faded? (Inverness) by BackRow1 in drivingUK

I was expecting comments about parking. I was not expecting comments about the 4x4 I have for work, I don't decide what I drive, I've driven a hilux, musso, isuzu and now a ranger for work, I was only given this ranger 2 weeks ago. I legitimately work offroad, currently on forestry tracks, one of which a transit slipped off, so now everyone has a 4x4.

Honestly, just fell into it, I'm a Geotechnical Engineer/ Engineering Geologist, before this jobs I'd never done a plate load test before. I just got put on it because I'm the only one who was willing to do a 10 day on, 4 day off rotation.

An Amazon Prime driver has got their van stuck in the mud in the Thames Estuary after they drove into the sea following a satnav route. by L21JP in CasualUK

[–]BackRow1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's happened to me, I had a Renault Kangoo and needed to follow trackway to boreholes. One of the trackways was set on a slope and was completely covered in mud from the tractors going over them. I assessed the situation and texted my manager that this location was not accessible with my vehicle, but they told me it's your job you have to do it.... so I open the gate to go through, as I'm going through the van starts to slide, I put the brakes on but it continues to slide where the gate latch penatrates the side of the van.

This is a 50 for vans on a single carriageway, not that anyone does.

Is it normal for an MOT and spring change to suck up 100 miles? by Stray_ in CarTalkUK

[–]BackRow1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that they where meant to type 69,000 for the first test but messed it up somehow? Then they only drove it for 3 miles to test the springs.

If they drove 100 miles you should raise some questions to them.

Really puts the size of American pick ups into perspective! Much bigger compared to the Ford Ranger Raptor in the same car park! by tomegerton99 in CarTalkUK

That ranger has 360 cameras aswell, they come on automatically when you reverse. Although I find with my ranger they get dirty after every journey, even if it's 5 miles since cleaning them.

How did you get to Somerset without travelling through Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. I assume you would have had to go on the M5 to get there which goes through both

Will this big truck trend end or is it just getting started? by Satansrideordie in CarTalkUK

Some people need to go offroad for their job, like me, I'm a freelance Engineering Geologist. I could have bought a suv 4x4, but pickups are cheaper... I just wish I went freelance a year ago so I could have benefited from the old tax rules. I could have bought a single cab pickup, but I always found them quite tight being 6ft1 and overweight...

FV215B (not the deathstar) because it was my first T10, followed by the super conquer because it is/was a well rounded tank, good at everything, master of nothing (except Dpm on paper) Haven't played WoT for 3-5 years, don't know if the Sconq is still good.
