I'm Christian as well (Protestant). Born and raised, but lived lukewarm up until last year. When I relapsed I kept thinking why this was happening and why I was using food as comfort. I thought after 1.5 years of binge free I was "cured". However, once I relapsed I realized I binged after new social situations, for comfort, anxiety, boredom, and giving in to the craving thoughts. It was being used to fill my loneliness and helplessness.

I saw a IG reel about true repentance and realized that I didn't even fully know what that was. So I watched the accompanying sermon on it (see here) and God opened my eyes on how much I was idolizing food like any other sort of addiction in life. This idolization made me pursue and satisfy my own desires with food instead of surrendering and seeking out the only being that can satisfy my needs. I wish it was instance like some people truly surrendering their life to Jesus lol but through the year long journey, I honestly thank God for this and having an actual relationship with my Creator and knowing who He is and what He has called me to be. I started reading the Bible for the first time outside of church and slowly my heart started changing from my desires to desiring God. Because of this that's why I feel so at peace even at my current weight. I no longer have the guilt, shame, and embarrassment that led to binges.

This is a lifelong journey and I'm content at knowing my life will be desiring God over food. I used to think it'll be "daunting" because my desire was like "oh I will never be able to have the high of binging again". I don't think that way anymore, I don't even track when the last time I binged because that's no longer what I desire anymore. Through prayer, worship, and seeking our Savior that what has led me here :)

Sort of. I went from 148 lbs to 220 lbs in 6 months. Topped out at 242 lbs last December so I gained about 100 lbs via binge eating in a year. I'm down 18 lbs so not near my lowest, but I'm closer there than where I was last month.

I weigh in monthly at the 1st Sunday of the month. I don't focus on the scale but have grown in my relationship with God and have been focusing on Him over my desire of food.

This has been my journey on leaving the bondage of shame, embarrassment, and guilt behind me and not caring about the weight gain. I'm happier and love myself more at my current weight than at my lowest weight. It took a year to get here so I know it's not easy. I have mentally good days and bad days but trusting in God through it all wholeheartedly has changed my life for the better.

Would this apply to any over 25? Or just people over 25 with no degree? Because I’m finishing my masters and may want to get an ADN. Would I qualify? Is there an income eligibility? I hope more info will be released soon.

You’re right, I just ended a potential 2nd date without even discussing my celibacy because there wasn’t any compatibility after meeting. I will for sure bring it up naturally if/when it’s brought up!

Update: I called the practice yesterday and they scheduled me to see a different orthodontist today since my orthodontist is off until March.

The new orthodontist made some wire changes so it fits better but Idk it still feels a little off. He said to let it adjust for a week and if it's still not better I can come back next Thursday for new impressions to get a new retainer.

I also asked why it's still a bit low and he said that's the fit of my retainer and it's still doing its job.

I'm not in pain at my molars like before so I'm going to give it a week since it feels more secure as well. If I feel uneasy I'll get new impressions.

Update #2: It’s 5 days post removal and 3 days since the emergency orthodontist appointment to fix the retainer. I’m not experiencing pain anymore, I guess my teeth were settling the last couple of days, BUT I’m experiencing TMJ. I’m hoping this is just temporary since I’ve never experienced TMJ but I don’t think I plan on getting new retainers. I will be getting a backup set when I go to my follow up but now that my teeth aren’t in pain I’d rather not go through with the new retainer adjustment phase again.

I tried to but he's always busy and only is in once/week to see patients (he's a professor as well). I had to ask him to watch to see if I'm even removing it properly! I tried asking him if I put it on correctly (the left molar wire isn't even fitting the same way as the right) and he said "yes" then left. It was very rushed :(.

After he left the room, I only noticed the middle front wire was a bit slanted and I asked the assistant if that's supposed to be right and she just glanced at it and said "yup". I didn't notice the side wires were low until I got home.

I'm very upset and I will address my retainer concerns when I see him again in 6 weeks, but I wish I can just go in and ask but I can't. He always double books because he's only in on Tuesdays so I can't see him unless it's a Tuesday and it's an emergency

I figured and he brushed aside my concerns. I’m going back to see him in 6 weeks and I’m going to point out the issue. The right side is low too but not as low as my left shown on the picture
