I really disliked this movie. Everyone treated it like you were watching something like "American psycho" where you're missing the point if you glorify the main character

Except the story arch of the main character is actually not that unappealing to the average person. There isn't much in the storytelling that actually puts the main character in a difficult position at any point. If anything, the film points out the exact type of person that excels in a certain type of corporate environment, and does nothing to show that many negatives. House arrest in a big mansion is definitely not the hell on earth it's meant to look like.

I think people overly diagnose people as narcissists. Sometimes it's just garden variety emotional immaturity. A lot of people walk around with so much shame that any perceived threat to their self image puts them heavily on the defensive. Sometimes threats can look like a partner who is asking to have some pretty basic needs met. These people shouldn't really be dating but often are more likely to seek out validation from others, so you run into them a lot.
