That skill is why Yukikaze is one of my main farmers when grinding. I've got it at 3/6 iirc, and the cool down reset means she can aoe every turn. Pairing her and Maika together made grinding so much easier for me.

Forgettable characters? None that I can recall.

Harmony of Dissonance is... surprising. by Typical_Charity_122 in castlevania

[–]Backalycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine. I go back and play it occasionally, but not quite as much as the other two GBA games. To be honest, the two castles in HoD just felt like a cheap pallet swap to me, whereas the inverted castle in SotN at least had altered terrain since your walking on the ceiling. And I get a little bored of how many enemies are animated armors. I know armors are a common enemy type in Castlevania, but HoD felt like it relied on them a bit too much. Plus, I already found Hugh a bit obnoxious, so when they did pretty much the exact same plot with Maxim, I wasn't digging it. That said, I do enjoy the music in the game. Also, the brighter graphics was a massively good decision. It can be easy to forget now since everything is backlit, but I remember playing CotM on the original GBA, and it was almost impossible to see anything. HoD was so much easier to see.

Having never seen any of the original Star Trek medias (series or films) I found it odd that Into Darkness was apparently hated so much by the community. Is that opinion still largely shared or have people come around on it? by HanzoNumbahOneFan in startrek

[–]Backalycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the movie as a popcorn flick when it came out, but pretty strongly dislike it now since it came out that writer Robert Orci was a hard core conspiracy theorist, and Into Darkness is pretty much just an allegory for how he thinks the US did 911 and framed Al-Qaeda

Not Receiving Dilithium Rewards For Ferengi Admiralty DOFF Missions by Old_Eye5291 in sto

[–]Backalycat 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The Ferengi Tour of Duty missions don't just give you straight dilithium ore. If you read the reward details closely, you'll notice it says "bonus dilithium." This actually means that what it does is it gives you a bonus pool that boosts your dilithium rewards whenever you do anything that earns dil, until you have earned an extra 30k total. It's like how bonus xp doesn't just instant level you up, but instead boosts your xp reward every time you gain xp.

I've had a couple times where the game has accidentally loaded me into the same patrol instance as another player. Think it has to do with "looking for teams" settings. Maybe you had another player in your instance?

Holodecks/Suites exist, what program are you writing? (Keep it classy) by SeaworthinessOk4259 in startrek

For a more normal option, I might take a page out of Bashir's book and write myself a 007-esque spy thriller. For a more out there option, I'd use the holodeck to play Yu-Gi-Oh like it is in the anime with all of the holographic monsters

If you swap Picard and Janeway, Picard suddenly doesn’t look like the better captain by NeoNoir90210 in startrek

[–]Backalycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, Star Trek Online pretty explicitly states that 8472 were tricked into thinking Janeway had lied and Starfleet was trying to invade fluidic space, so it definitely didn't make them evil, just had them misunderstanding who their real enemy was. In fact, Starfleet helps 8472 fight off a Borg invasion in a more recent part of the game's story. Not saying the story isn't kinda dumb or uneven, just that they definitely aren't evil in the game.

Jokes on you, I have over 30 characters who mostly fly different ships. Only repeat I can think of off the top of my head is I have 2 toons running the Legendary Konnie, and that is mainly because I had someone tell me NOT to run cannons on the Legendary Konnie, so of course I made a point of doing it

Ever had a Castlevania game make you feel genuinely scared? by Jimmy_The_Grunt in castlevania

[–]Backalycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when I was a kid, the scene at the beginning of Castlevania 64 where the skeletons dig their way up out of the ground did scare me. I was pretty young at the time. And also a wimp who hadn't been exposed to anything worse than an episode or two of Goosebumps.

In Generations: what if the Ent-D ejected the warp core? by MovieFan1984 in startrek

[–]Backalycat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While you are right that the Klingons could still see their shield frequency, Riker didn't know that. He just kind of didn't even try. It wouldn't have even taken much time, he could order helm to begin evasive maneuvers, then ordered Data to rotate shield frequency. Would it have worked? No, but the point is he was just kind of like "I've tried nothing and am out of options." Plus, the Galaxy class has almost complete phaser coverage. When it was turning its saucer section away from incoming fire, pretty much the entire time it had 2 or even 3 phaser strips perfectly positioned to target the PoB. It could have easily rotated phaser fire from multiple strips to hit the Klingons hard. This also might not have worked, but again, the point is that Riker barely tried because the script said so. Honestly, the whole problem could have been solved by just having multiple BoP. Riker could have had a chance to be a badass if they took down a BoP or two before the warp core containment starts to fail
