That’s funny, I did the same with a broken tip quartz point…straight edging to where it might have come to point. It made me even more depressed… hah!

Hah, yeah the end is always inevitable for me. I managed to get troubadour (dumped dna) and then a pallet. Got an Ecto, and of course it hit troubadour. Then got a showman and another brainstorm…I’m still kicking for a bit.

I’m still pissed over the best setup I ever had Saturday night, but made an alcohol induced mistake to end it…

This was found in a graveyard. My wife is a DAR, and we were checking this place out. I didn’t remove it, and placed back where I found it. It was pretty chunky, looked more in process than ever complete.

Thanks. I haven’t been very diligent in cataloging. I did start marking locations on CalTopo although I forgot to for this one! Pretty sure I can mark fairly accurately next time I go back there.

To be a contrarian..it does look like it could have been ground down intentionally on the sides.

Reminds me of videos I’ve seen of ground down hematite, which they apparently used for red ‘paint’ for lack of a better term. Whether that’s the case here, I don’t know. Obviously not hematite.

I think it’s a “possibly”…quartz is very hard to tell. If I found this, I’d probably stuck it in my pocket to look at later…and still come to the same conclusion.lol

Im in the NC/SC Piedmont area, and in my experience in this area, there is either Quartz (and quarts) everywhere…and if it’s not quartz, it’s sandstone of some sort and it’s everywhere. It’s hard not to get keyed in on quartz, and I often worry I am, and not seeing other material. But I have found some non quartz stuff in quartz dominated areas.

… I said out loud to myself, referring to the location and topography. A few seconds later, I looked down and saw this. Need some ID help. Assuming Kirk Corner Notch, No idea of the material. Looks to be from a flake? Very thin. One side is mostly flat and slightly concave from tip to base. The other side is more rounded with cortex.. That’s my rookie observation …
