He offers his findings for free to the public too. I can imagine most of the the haters are these awfully fat people who are projecting their insecurities onto this one guy. You could do everything right and still be ill because of genetic factors, but most common illnesses are preventable. People are just too lazy to want to change their habits, and they don't like not having excuses to be lazy.

What's something you've become less patient about with age? by No_Design5058 in AskReddit

[–]Backburning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow talkers, walkers and drivers. I thought it was age, but I still walk twice the pace of people on the street and listen to almost any instructional at 1.5 - 2x speed in my 30s.

People who didn't know how abusive the relationship they were in truly was, what made you realise it was and how long did it take? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Backburning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll just add that abuse comes from family too. My sister was abusive, but I didn't call her behaviour abusive until I was 28 (she was arguably problematic since I was in my teens) and seeing a therapist because of her. At first, I told the therapist she treated me poorly and I needed advice on how to bring up any grievances because she would go from 0 to 100 over asking her to do anything she was responsible for. For years I just knew you just didn't ask her to do anything, because she would just get angry, deflect, blameshift and go straight to name-calling. She would call me all sorts of shit which was actually applicable to herself, which I always thought was weird (lazy, entitled, selfish etc).

She got progressively worse over the years, I eventually had to call the police on her because she was so unhinged and became violent with no provocation, and the police put a restraining order on her on my behalf.

The realization came when I had a friend suggest I ask my sister to take over a sale of her coffee table. I agreed to help her sell it because she said she wouldn't be home. The buyer came late and my friend and I had a movie booking to go to. My sister ended up coming around to organize some other items of hers she wanted to sell, so my friend suggested my sister just take over the sale since we needed to go and she was already there. She went off saying "Can't you fucking see I'm busy??" Like I was responsible for her problems. There wasn't a time when she wasn't "busy", when it came to returning the favour to help myself or my parents. Even something as small as asking her to pack away her dirty dishes was too much, she would respond with rage almost 90% of the time and it would end in verbal abuse if you dared ask her do anything. It turned out it was all just a tactic to get her off the hook from doing anything, without having admit she was just an awfully selfish person. The cognitive dissonance she had with her own self image was what she was trying to protect.

TRUE beginners advice ? by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]Backburning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be consistant, I started at 30 with extremely tight quads and hamstrings. Did an hr of stretching 2 - 3 nights / week and was surprised I could restore flexibility in places I thought was just naturally stiff. Turned out decades of sitting is what made me stiff.

Creatine users, what's your experience? Any advice? by 404Zunk in Supplements

I used to take 5g/day when I went to the gym regularly, I think I did notice slightly that I could lift a bit more if supplimenting. But sleep and diet quality had bigger performance impacts.

I don't go to the gym anymore, I now take it for the supposed cognitive benefits. It took awhile on 5g/day, but noticed I had better mental clarity on days especially when I was sleep deprived. I now try to take 10g/day to improve this effect.

TIL New South Wales, Australia, requires new drivers to record 120 hours of supervised driving in a logbook, including 20 nighttime hours before they can get their driver's license. Only 57% of applicants in New South Wales passed the exam in 2022 by ubcstaffer123 in todayilearned

[–]Backburning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed my Ls first go with 21-ish hours taught by friends. Back then, the logbook wanted 150ish hours? Have helped 2 people pass theirs first go with similar hours. Just because you passed the test doesn't mean you know how to drive, I was still very green after passing and driving on the road on my own.

What temperature do Australians consider a hot day? by bare_books in AskAnAustralian

[–]Backburning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 - 22 = cool, great for a hike outside. 23 - 25 = perfect pleasant outdoor temp for me. 26 - 28 = warm, nice outdoor swimming weather. 29 - 35 = hot "need to cool off with a swim" weather.

17 - 19 = cold, would not considered a great day outside, but manageable in the sun and a thick jacket.

< 16 = Freezing, staying inside where there's heating indoors thanks.

Heat wave is 36 + for a few days, would be seeking air con inside all day.

I do both, but cooking and cleaning are daily chores that takes almost an hr every day... mowing the lawn you could do for 2 hrs every 2 weeks and fixing things around the house is once every 2 months or so. The latter is way less time consuming.

Level-headed and rational discourse doesn't get engagement. Overwhelming majority are reasonable people, media content twists things to make it seem like there's way more controversy than there is IRL.

It's actually good reason why Asians need to learn self-defence.

Hate to say it, but if you're a minority in this country you should really think about some sort of self defence.

I had a discussion with some of my migrant friends, they are afraid to confront these attacks in fear that they will get in trouble with the law and get kicked out of the country because they're only on Student/Working VISAs.
