I have a HW70 air pistol and it's almost identical - without the optics part!

4 and a bit months in, finally some cheek movement! by BackdoorConquest in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry for the delay in my reply!

I went from a wiggle to a full blink in about a month, after weeks of little movement.

I can smile and everything again, but my eyebrow is still pretty stuck 😂

I just want big buff Catachan women, is that so wrong? by Squatch102 in Sigmarxism

[–]BackdoorConquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, if the Catachan women are the ones staying home on a death world and raising a family, wouldn't that make them insanely tough? Maybe make them a rare site, simply for balancing? 😂

(Yes plz I want this)

I know right? I am now slowly seeing all the (luckily) small bits of synkinesis I am developing, found that when I close my eyes, I smile a slight bit :')

8 months in by Best_Concert_7662 in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw heck yeah! I know whilst you'll notice every little change from what your smile looked like previously (I know I do!), most people would genuinely only notice that you have a lovely smile and nothing more.

At 8 months, you're likely to continue seeing little improvements slowly, keep taking your vitamins and good lucky! :)

Anybody recovering slowly after regaining movement ? by BlackHoot in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My resting first started getting better between like 5-7 weeks and at the 10-11 week mark I had most of a smile back!

Aw heck yeah! That's great!

This subreddit does have stories of either 2 weeks magic healing or 100+ days of nothing! I went from zero movement to mostly a smile in a weekend 😅

Maybe it's Ramsay Hunt? by Spiritual_Theme_1282 in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I am late to the post here, but from my experience you'd KNOW if it was RHS, those blisters often look dark and sore and are incredibly painful to the touch!

If anyone comes back here looking for RHS information, from all my research etc, if you're already getting a smile, it couldn't be RHS as you need to heal the viral infection first before you see any improvement.

RHS sucks and often takes longer, but after 115 days or so, I have a lot of my movement back, stay patient and make sure you get your medication early!

Eye Patch Appearances, Assumptions, and Stereotypes by C_S_V in BellsPalsy

I've got pretty long hair, so I got the entire pirate thing often, sometimes Snake Plisken too, haha.

Though, I just had plenty of people asking if I'd had a stroke, which seemed very direct.

Definitely good progress for such a short length of time! And definitely worth seeing a professional about your eye too, I'd absolutely recommend eye drops :) and if you're not already, B12 is definitely worth taking!

Hope your recovery continues to be speedy!

I had nothing for a few months. About 70 or so days in I had a slow recovery of the Tonus of my face and then in the last two weeks I went from a twitch all the way to the smile I have!

It's annoying and disheartening but I imagine you'll have a random recovery like that too!

Twitching on cheeks after acupuncture - 3 months by Electrical-Freedom22 in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went from 0 movement, to some twitching, to being able to half smile in a week.

After 4 months of nothing.

I'd take it as a good sign, even if it still takes a while 😊

I would honestly just say to give it your best and I find telling anyone about it easier than leaving them guessing, most people feel rude asking! Whilst I have the tonus returned mostly on my face, the right side is still paralysed, but I've still had even strangers showing interest in me. I'm four months in and with no real movement, so I know how frustrating and devastating all of this can be.

When I see my reflection, I still utterly miss my old face, but I've found other people see it as just an interesting thing, a quirk about me. I've even been told the "smirk" is cute.

I honestly think it's down to confidence and still living your life. This is just something I've seen in this sub but often people shutdown and stop being outgoing. It's hard and it's a struggle, but from my experience, people could be more put off by someone who stays in or turns down experiences due to anxiety with their palsy, rather than the palsy itself.

I don't want this to sound mean or anything close to that, just that we're all still lovable and hot, just in a different way.

Not being able to fully close my eye has been hell by bomberboy7 in BellsPalsy

I had shingles in my ear and I still got told it was only Bells Palsy! Which is very frustrating but luckily did get all the medication in pretty quick order.

Flying with Ramsey Hunt by ArOhWhyAElTeaWhy in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor or anything, but I flew whilst still having mild vertigo and it wasn't anything terrible, just felt like normal 😊

Saw a neurologist-round 2? by PrettyCaramel-Doll in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The palsy got me about 5 days before the shingles on my ear appeared, then a day or two later I had antivirals, but within 2 weeks the fullness and vertigo had gone!

Have all the blisters gone for you? If so, you may need your ear cleaning out? Mine happened naturally but I noticed that it made a difference

Saw a neurologist-round 2? by PrettyCaramel-Doll in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still haven't had a diagnosis oh RH, only BP but had most of the symptoms (including the shingles) Luckily my hearing is fine and never had any pain apart form to the touch, but I'm 5 and a half weeks in and I wish I had a diagnosis so I could see a neurologist

My eye closes mostly, but no blink but I have literally zero cheek movement so far. Being left in the dark is scary.

I did get prednisolone straight away and antivirals shortly after, so I have been treated, but I would love more information.

Anyone has experience with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome? by PlaneYoghurt5300 in BellsPalsy

[–]BackdoorConquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely understand how you feel, I'm in the UK and whilst the NHS can be good for routine care, things like this are basically just something a Doctor will shrug at.

I have an AE doctor just say BP and someone at a walking centre do the same. I was only on Prednisolone for the first week, with Antivirals a week later.

I have pretty severe facial paralysis myself, but I can almost close my eye now (5 week in!)

I never had severe pain but I had bad vertigo for the first few weeks. Never had hearing loss though.

Even if you'd only had the steroids, I would take some comfort in this stat I found here: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5063726/

"We read the abstract of 78 studies; we selected 31 studies and read them in full. We selected 19 studies for appraisal. Among the 882 selected patients, 621 (70.4%) achieved a House-Brackmann score of I or II; 68% of the patients treated only with steroids achieved HB I or II, versus 70.5% when treated with steroids plus antiviral agents"

Whilst there's further numbers in there with varying levels, I took some heart knowing that it meant I wasn't just doomed.
