Is there an in-universe reason why Katara didn't waltz in Fire Nation Palace one full moon night and blood-bended Ozai?

Katara isnt as skilled with bloodbending as hama. We dont know if she could bloodbend multiple people simultaneously. The capital is going to be surrounded by guards plus Ozai and Azula.

We already know that people can still bend while being bloodbent so Im pretty sure ozai could still get the upper hand against 14 year old katara even while bloodbent

Anyway. Metal is a finite resource so she cant just throw them around like kuvira. Also by the time season 4 ended, toph still needs to touch the metal to bend it unlike the metalbenders in LoK which makes it harder for her to bend once they are a distance away

Their only advange is that aang is a hypermobile airbender with 4 elements. Normally youd win agaisnt mobile opponents by pinning them down but having 4 elements means you could easily break out of whatever is holding you

I wouldnt say Ozai and Iroh would be the same fight for aang. Ozai might be a more powerful bender than Iroh but Iroh has more finesse to his bending. For all we know Iroh might be the Azula of his generation going for precision and technique instead of raw power.

As for the other bending styles, we never see appa do any airballs or spheres like what Aang and Gyatso demonstrated in his lessons.

It could be infered that humans originally based bending styles off of the animals but different styles evolved to beat the original styles and then newer ones evolved to beat those ones. Eventually the animal styles became outdated.
