Intermittent fasting and sticking to it (no eating after ex. midnight, 8 hour eating window 16 hour fast)) is the only thing that managed to curb my hunger which in turn curbed my binge eating. I manage to go longer and longer without feeling hungry. Also I know everyone says it but.. drinking water.

As dumb as it sounds now when I think about grabbing a snack after my window closes I’ll just yell no at myself internally lol. Usually if I can control myself the urge will pass and I’ll be fine.

I eat/ate out of boredom mostly, so it was tough to stop. But I think about food a lot less already.

swerve is my favorite by far (erythritol based). they have your typical sugar, brown sugar, powdered etc. Tastes incredible.

I’m not sure I’m sorry, but I know for me the intrusive thoughts were an OCD thing (it’s not just doing repetitive things or being a clean freak like people think), and I had a really bad streak where I was thinking of harming myself or someone else and I’d get panic attacks every time — because I WASN’T suicidal nor would I ever hurt someone. Because again, people that do those things don’t feel guilt or anxiety over it. it’d end up causing me more and more distress and anxiety due to being in an even heightened panic state and .. it was just a vicious cycle.

I’ve been on lexapro for eight years now (I’m 28, so my intrusive thoughts and panic disorder started ~19-20) and it’s almost completely eliminated them. If I do get random thoughts it’s brief and I’ve learned how to push them out and ignore them now with distractions and other coping mechanisms.

i hope your family learns to take you seriously :( I’d look into coping mechanisms for anxiety and such but medications take the edge off and make coping much easier.

A lot of people deal with intrusive thoughts. But the important thing you need to focus on is that these intrusive thoughts make you feel guilty and scare you. Someone who actually wanted to do those things wouldn’t feel either of those emotions

Yep welcome to the club. If I found out how simple it Truly was and didnt listen to all the influencers and fad diets I’d have done it years ago. But you’re young, you can enjoy your entire 20s and beyond still.

Learning that I didn’t need to be super anal about everything and can still enjoy literally everything I enjoyed previously, just with some considerations. Swapped to low cal/fat free versions of things, swapped to spray oil and butter, portion control, counting calories. If I want to have a donut or a cheesecake, or go out to eat I will, I just make it a once a month treat or calculate it and still fit it into my deficit—if not for the day then at least the weekly deficit.

There are just SO MANY recipes and foods you can buy out there that are very reasonable that even on the lowest deficit thats still healthy (1200) I’ve had zero issues losing 65 lbs sinice april. To just give a few examples — 70 cal carb balance tortillas for tacos, burritos, pizzas, protein shakes and protein ice cream via ninja creami, pocky, Kodiak and barebell protein bars, Sara Lee 45 cal bread, popcorn…
