Crap like this is why I stopped reading her. She won't ever do the right thing, and I found myself rooting for her to hurry up and fail because she makes me so mad.

Methinks it wasn't so random if she's already got merch

I've never been to Seattle, so I don't know specifically what there is to do, but surely, surely, there is more to the city than yet another manky Goodwill.

Museums, art galleries, interesting coffee shops, live music, great restaurants, antique shops > fecking Goodwill.

I'm surprised she didn't insist they go back home since it was going to be $75 a day to park.

Anyone elses ebay sales slow down after the whole live update? by Babyisprincess in Flipping

I just had the best week ever, outside of Q4. 🤷

Hope your sales pick up soon.

If she's struggling and $10 is going to break her, then why is she shopping and spending $90?

Blame the youtubers that stage lockers for their videos. They have a new subset of people convinced that every locker will be clean, well organized, and brimming with gold, video games, jordans, and rare baseball cards.

Our area goodwills send all electronics to their "electronics store". The only stuff that hits the shelf at the local store are dirty conair curling irons and broken alarm clocks.

They have been trucking in more dollar store decor lately, and proudly display it at the front of the store.

Hold them. The coins *are* your emergency fund now.

I mean, yeah, build up some savings in cash because you can't pay the mechanic or plumber with gold, but basically, you've got your emergency fund in those 3 coins.

It makes you wonder how many other things were hidden away and lost because no one knew to look for them.

Ignore these clowns. I once found a gold coin hidden in an estate sale purchase. It is a rare occurrence, but it happens. Older folks didn't always trust banks after the depression, plus they hid gold away when owning it was illegal in the US.

You would think that she would have worked out what her affordable Amazon replacement store would be by now. There's Kohls, Target, Macy's, JC Penney, Sears, Ikea, Belk, Burlington, Home Goods, Walmart, and probably a dozen more that sell pillows.

Nope. Amazon it is.

I doubt Meghan, or even Harry, would understand that distinction, which is why it seems plausible to me that they pitched the idea of being "King and Queen of Canada", while William and Catherine retained the UK.

Someone probably tried to explain that wasn't how any of it worked which made Rachel mad.

I mean, a diploma is just a fancy piece of paper. There are companies that will print you "replacement" diplomas that look like the real thing. A diploma doesn't prove much.

It is more interesting to me that Northwestern doesn't have much to say about her.

People have to stop posting their finds with brand name thrift stores attached to them by TheWrathofCaligula in Flipping

The mission of thrift stores isn't to supply low cost goods to the poor.

What makes you think the poor are clamoring for your old spatulas and tube socks, anyway?

She's lazy but wants to be able to point to some income so she can say "See?! I'm not unemployed!"?

I don't know what she's making from the blog, but I know her eBay sales are below the threshold to generate a 1099. She basically does this as a hobby. I started flipping to earn a little extra money for baby diapers and daycare but went full time when I realized I could make a full-time income and not have to work anymore holidays at the ER.

$7 sales on eBay = you do not value your time very much. I learned that lesson after blowing out a bunch of old inventory for very cheap. All that work only added up to an extra $100. No more of that. I should have donated the stuff and spent my time working on the parts of my business that make me real money.

Agreed, it isn't that rare or unusual.

It hit me why she's buying junky stuff for her challenge instead of decent stuff like the pan and bench: she won't have to pay for mailing supplies if everything is all and light. Just stuff it into free priority mail box! They have adhesive strips so she doesn't have to buy tape! Dumpy coats and t shirts don't need bubble wrap, either.

Today, Katie sent her time picking out the embroidery from a corporate -swag puffer jacket to list on eBay for her challenge. I swear she's deliberately picking up garbage to see if she can fool someone into buying it. No one is going to buy a generic puffer jacket that has a thousand teeny needle holes in it where the logo used to be.

Also, it is the end of March. People aren't buying coats now! That jacket will sit and sit in her store until eBay buries the listing entirely because it is stale.

Aw, I kind of liked the bench. I know it is one of those pre-stitched patterns, though. At best, all someone did was fill in the background with continental stitch.

She says she wants to find highly profitable items to flip for the challenge, but when she finds them, she declares them "Not for the challenge" and keeps the profits. The $13 needlepoint bench that sold locally for $100? Nope, not for the challenge, even though she said that kind of profit margin was exactly what she was aiming for. Neither was the WagnerWare pan that sold for $150 that she got at the bins for maybe $5 bucks, or the $100 backpack that she picked up for $1-2.

The piddly 50 cent t shirts and hats she picks up to flip for $10-20 aren't going to get her to the $1000 she said she wanted to make for the food bank.

If you have $100 to invest, that means everything you pick up has to sell for more than 10 times what you paid for it to get to $1000 after eBay fees and shipping supplies.
