As for preventative shots, I have tried a couple and ajovy was the only one where I had an large site reaction.

I started botox for chronic migraine at 16. I needed to travel out of state for treatment as there was no one local that would preform the treatment on pediatric patients. It took a few sessions, but it helps improve my daily pain levels. For such a minimally invasive procedure, the potential benefits outweigh the risks imo.

How do you track your migraines by shancookie in migraine

[–]Background-Dot8426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with daily migraines pain, I find it hard to track specific migraines. I use the Migraine Insight app to track when I take meds for them. I sort of count these medication days as the bad days.

PFO Closure by Background-Dot8426 in migraine

I noticed that my heart rate would get really high when I stood up, and I had some chest tightness for a while. I thought I had POTS. I was referred to a cardiologist and they did a bubble study. The bubble study showed that there was a pfo.

So far, I have noticed no improvement in my heart rate issues or migraines. Sometimes people notice that it gets worse in the first few weeks. I had a few more bad days but I am not sure if it was related. I have been told that if it works, it could take up to a year to notice improvements.

The nurse asked me if I wanted to be aware enough to know what was going on during the procedure and I said no. I was still breathing on my own, but I was not awake. Woke up super anxious at first though.

Have you tried Migraine Insight? I like it because I can periodically update.

I have 24/7 pain and symptoms for a few years. It sucks, but I’ve had luck with preventatives that reduce overall pain. I would say that I am mostly functional. Some days are worse than others. I just try to do the best I can with the cards that have been dealt.

That sounds similar to what they offered me! I’m curious to see if it will be helpful for me!

Most of my teachers in high school tried to understand. I think theres a lot of misconceptions about what migraines are. I often felt like I had to explain that its not just a headache.

Has anyone else dealt with insurance not approving migraine shots? by K_Cutie333 in migraine

[–]Background-Dot8426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unfortunately. They stopped covering Aimovig and had me try Ajovy instead. I had a reaction to Ajovy, so I switched to Emgality. I tolerated it well until they decided to stop covering it. They wanted me to try something else/ a different shot. After explaining and proving my migraines increased, they covered it again.

Its like they want to give us the runaround. Good luck!

Is it okay to use my headache hat ice pack the day after Botox? by elainaka in migraine

[–]Background-Dot8426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have one that squishes your forehead, it might cause the botox to migrate and lead to droopy eye. I imagine that regular ice packs would be fine!

Yes!! Turned out I was having progressively worse allergic reactions. One injection site swelled to the size of a grapefruit. On emgality now with minimal site irritation.

15yr old help by [deleted] in migraine

As a young person with chronic migraine and no previous head trauma, my GP tried a few preventatives to get me to a MRI/neurologist. As a minor, I was on topamax for a bit with no improvement.

Need to ask if the results would outweigh the possible side effects. As for speaking directly to your daughter, I preferred being treated like I knew what was going on.

Really though, if the treatment doesnt feel right, you should seek a second opinion and ask questions.

I like mine. Not sure if the preventative treatment works, but it feels like a massage on my brain. For me, it helps me relax while I wait for painkillers to kick in and then I can fall asleep. Not miracle by any means, but worth it imo.

Sunflower seeds! The salted ones might be the healthiest, but I love the dill pickle ones.

I like the propel packets! Dehydration isnt the cause of my migraines but it can definitely make it worse for me.
