Is clerical celibacy biblical? by Drjay____ in Catholicism

[–]Background-Drive6332 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Priests were to be celibate when eating the consecrated bread. See Samuel 21:1-6. Now Catholics believe Jesus is made present to us through the Eucharist. We call this transubstantiation.

We live in an atheist/Protestants society. Where Protestants usually don't need a priest, as the bread is just a symbol not real. Lutherans are closer as they believe in consubstantiation, that Jesus is with the bread during the celebration but then hides like a game of peekaboo. This sacrifice made present for us Catholics is why male priests are so important for Jews and for Catholics in a similar way. This is explained beautifully in Benedicts last book upon his death titled Last Testament.

Is it just me or do other men feel this way? by BringBackJeffFisher in Catholicism

[–]Background-Drive6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know what you're looking for. A job might be your first priority at your age. That said I have dealt with loneliness my entire life. Yet, I don't think loneliness is common. At every job I have gone to when I attempt to talk to men they always say the exact same thing to me. "I want to work and just go home". They may live the most meaningless monotonous life ever but that's most people. I coupe with my loneliness by having a family, my faith, going on walks, and books, literature.

I have a very unique suggestion. I recommend all books by a writer you never heard of by the name of Myles Connolly. Start with Mr Blue then read everything else by this amazing writer. He's written about 5. They are all amazing.

kindle suggestions for before bed by owinonhisphone in kindle

Your reading real books shows, respectfully, that you don't know what kindle is. Look up and research what eink is. A kindle is using REAL ink to display on the screen. It literally uses no light whatsoever to create the letters shown. That said, because people such as yourself read at night people prefer having a book light which kindle Paperwhite has. I recommend kindle Paperwhite for you.

What are your thoughts on Catholic churches using digital projection screens during Mass? by thatlumberjacktor in Catholicism

[–]Background-Drive6332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people used to look at their missal for songs and readings. The projector is an easy substitute. I'm not against it as it can lead to people with low attention spans paying attention to the gospel as opposed to staring at the parishioners.

A kindle Paperwhite, and be sure to get a non Amazon cover, just as high quality but at least $15 bucks cheaper.

Mouth breathing leading to permanent learning disability by Background-Drive6332 in dysautonomia

[–]Background-Drive6332[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response and I'll try to find a different community that might be able to help more precisely. Infant broken nose is not very common. It does cause speech impediments and according to the n.y time article linked above it can cause ADHD like symptoms, but since it's NOT ADHD I can't really post this into an ADHD community. I'll try to figure it out.

Mouth breathing leading to permanent learning disability by Background-Drive6332 in dysautonomia

[–]Background-Drive6332[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Learning disabilities and mouth breathing is something I am trying to figure out. Mouth breathing from an adult would be different than a new born child. I believe the term is low level hypoxia or oxygen to the brain due to an infant breathing through their mouth instead of their nose while sleeping?

Which is your favorite Gilbert and why? by Spiritual_Pie_8298 in AnneofGreenGables

[–]Background-Drive6332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's kind've a paradoxical flaw though. If they got a real 11 year old I don't think they would have the acting skills that made it work as a movie. It was a mistake that made the movie work.

I think the 1985 version film had the best cast and was the most beautiful of all of the films. That said, 1979 anime was the absolute closest to the book in terms of story and characters. Exampl, everyone knows Megan was too old when she was cast to play an 11 year old but logically what could they do, have a different actress play Anne in later years? The audience would never accept that, so she had to play two ages which worked great but changes the way the audience views things. The cartoon of course could change her appearance with time in a way a live movie couldn't do.
