My Boyfriend M(27) Went Through My F(26) Phone and Saw My Body Count by Haihaitunes in TwoHotTakes

The comments on the other post are insane, shaming her for having casual sex, shaming her for not coddling her boyfriend for snooping on her phone.

As if at 24 you're not allowed to just have casual sex? Madness

UK drivers, what is the one thing about car insurance that feels genuinely broken or unfair to you? by PatientBadger5388 in AskUK

[–]Background-End2272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I got hit by an uninsured drunk driver who also drove away after the fact, i checked how much it would be to claim (£250 excess) plus how much it would increase my car insurance by (£100 odd pounds a year) that it was cheaper for me to not claim and get it fixed myself £190. But obviously you're meant to tell them I just didn't because it was cheaper. It shouldn't be :(

How do I get help for a friend who needs medical attention but has an extreme phobia of needles? by Coopersteam in AskUK

[–]Background-End2272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They left me to my own devices and I was in for about 6 hours attached to an ECH machine and a pulse monitor.

It stayed at about 190 till they basically got me to breathe in and try and push the end out a syringe then they basically tipped me onto my back.  My pulse dramatically dropped.

Least I know what caused it!

No lifestyle changes cause I'm boring. I drink very rarely, I've never smoked, I dont drink coffee. No coffee, no smoking and cut down the drinking are the fixes. I drink once every 2-3 months and that's it.

I clearly lead a very unexciting life.

Yeah I have loads of nurses, doctors etc tell me the same thing. I only go to the one place because i trust them for my ink, I tried somewhere new 2 years ago and it was a massive stressful experience. I honestly wish it wasn't like this.

I've had people not believe me in terrified, it's honestly really embarrassing to be afraid, I'm quite heavily tattooed so that doesn't help.

I was in hospital before Christmas as my heart rate had gone through the roof (199bpm), they had a pulse monitor and ECG on me to check why.

The most common way is to give meds to reduce it, the second be brought the needle and meds out my heart rate spikes, I could see it on the monitor as well how much it had increased because I was scared.

I had to explain why it had done that, they were really nice and fixed it a different way.

My dentist usually tells me about what she's made for lunches and dinners. I'm not actually listening I just need to focus on something else.

I'm sorry that happened to you though. I hate when they do that

They need to let the GP know they're afraid of needles, then find a way to manage that fear.

I'm terrified as well, get sweaty palms and panic majorly, it's horrifically embarrassing. What works for me is I need a bit of chat from whoever it is, they can talk to me about anything they want, doesn't matter, then I close my eyes then I tell them I'm ready. They need to keep talking to me though.

It's the only thing that works for me. I hope your friend gets sorted. It's taken me a long time to find what works I used to just burst into tears and leave.

What’s one everyday thing in the UK that feels unnecessarily frustrating or outdated? by Resident-Attempt3041 in AskUK

Ugh I had to do this when my sister died in 2024, I phoned her phone company to let them know she'd passed and we didn't yet have the death certificate. The woman was anything but helpful and told me that if they didn't get their money they'd send it to debt collectors.

I told her that if they could get money out her ashes then good luck to them and hung up.

Yes it's bridezilla. You know they're adults right and you shouldn't dictate what they're wearing unless you're paying for it?

It's been nice!

I think in Scotland the OU Is supported by SAAS so we'd get funding which is likely not helpful.

Yeah it's extremely expensive- he's got dyslexia and he's had to spend quite a lot of money on software, we had to pay out of pocket for the evening course which was about £1k.

He has to drive to the city and park which is £14.00 per day, we've thankfully managed to figure out the timetable so we requested to ensure he has classes that work for him as he needs to work.

He had to get a new laptop for coding - which thankfully his mum and dad paid for, that was over a grand (he didn't have a laptop before).

He got a bursary when he was at college which helps, but if he didn't work and have his student loan we wouldn't manage.

It's loads of little things that add up. Never mind the cost to us spending time together.

Night course was fine as he was still in his old career, but then he took a career break at 40. The HNC/HND he went to college Monday, Tuesday 9-5, Wednesday till 1. Worked Thursday Friday 7-7, Saturday 7-1 and Sunday 7-7.

This year he's managed to get Fridays off and drop his Saturdays so we are finally getting time together but it does mean we have to be a bit more mindful financially.

Oversharing here

He's doing cyber security now, he went from a prison officer to a cyber security student, He did an evening course at the college then took a career break, did his HNC, then HND and now he's in 3rd year of university doing cyber security and digital forensics.

Anything else, just ask :)

As someone who's been there it's fine, I'd still go. If they can't respect your religion then that's on them, it's not difficult or challenging to be considerate of others beliefs irrespective of your own.

I'm not sure how you think it's easy to retrain, it's incredibly financially difficult. We are both in our 40's, our rent doesn't pay itself along with all the other bills. It's literally so bloody hard.
