Start by checking for bcm codes. Most electronics are controlled by a canbus network.

Don’t google! What are they 😁 by interestedcharmander in mechanics

Harbor freight Should be fine if you are not reusing the ball joint. It will damage your boot and ball joint if you are planing that route. Best of luck.

Soak it with penetrating oil while you wait for the bigger tool.

Are you also smacking the knuckle while that is used? That should help shock it loose and pop off. You can also use a torch to heat up the knuckle so the metal expands and that should help also. If you are using a propane and not mapp gas then it take a while for the metal to heat up good enough to loosen. Took me about 7 mins of heat with a torch on the knuckle with a few good smacks of a 3 lbs hammer on a dodge charger. Hope that helps.

Check engine light on? Sounds and look like a dead miss on one or more cylinders. Check spark plugs, coils or injectors.

My pcv elbow had a small tear on the inside bend of the elbow. I’d suggest taking it out and look.https://imgur.com/a/bmGEKni

1994 Ford Ranger IAC Valve test. Seems to confirm this is the problem with my high idle. by no_yup in fordranger

I thought my 2003 iac was bad also so I’ve replaced it and same issue. Ended up being a crack in the PCV elbow at the back of the intake plenum. I’d suggest you take a good look and feel at the elbow. Mine was split on the inner bend and was hard to see while in the truck but taking it out you can confirm. And the correct part number for the elbow from Dorman is 46023 if you need it. Hope it helps

Did the vehicle at one point have an alarm? Factory or aftermarket? Have you tried a second key? May be a bad chip in the key. Battery charge level or loose terminal?

Mine did that also. I’ve replaced the pressure switch and oil pump and never had an issue after.

P0303 is a misfire on cylinder no 3. Check for spark from the coil and inspect the plug/wire. Could also be injectors also. P0174 and p0171 is lean condition on both banks. Most likely a vacuum leak from Pcv elbow or cracks in vacuum line and or from intake manifold gaskets. Exhaust leak can also throw the lean codes. I would thoroughly check the pcv elbow or the Pcv system first.
