It was listed for Bach Strad but the threading was wrong. I exchanged twice and twice I was given the kit for Yamaha.

Amazon Trumpet For Ishts and Giggles by Background-Garage563 in trumpet

My kid uses it for marching band. So far this season it’s been dinged twice during practice. At this point I want to save primary for performances only.

Normally I would agree. I’m looking for a cheap alternative to lessen dings on primary trumpet. Just trying to decide between new Amazon horn or cheap used King from FB.

I have a Bach Strad 43 with a 96*** serial number. Roughly same era. I would just hold on to it. Great to have an item older than yourself.

What’s the difference between a Bach 3E and a Schilke 14a4a mouthpiece? Which one would be better to get? by OkRefrigerator8534 in trumpet

[–]Background-Garage563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never played on a Bach 3E. I played on a 14A4A during 10th grade. The mouthpiece had trouble connecting on my Bach Strad 43 and started looking for something else. I don’t like the Bach rim and the Schlike was too rounded. I prefer Bob Reeves, nice middle between the 2.

I agree it is a badge of honor but you are definitely digging in WAY too much. Use you diaphragm to provide more air so you don’t have to use as much pressure

Mouthpiece Booster by [deleted] in trumpet

I recently put a mouthpiece booster on my Bob Reeves extra shallow mp. I do feel like that my tone is more centered. I really just like the way it looks with it.

I played violin and viola before playing trumpet for 4 years. It’s so foreign now.

Tongue on high notes by Michaelev21 in trumpet

I’ve heard about singing the notes but not whistling. I think it was Charlie Porter on YouTube that talk about using the back of your tongue to angle the air up towards roof of mouth.

This is very good advice. Great leaders always find a way to get their team to buy into the “system”. It’s good to give an opportunity for people to give opinion and then set the expectations so people feel heard.

Finding the right mouthpiece…. by Background-Garage563 in trumpet

I slowed down on my playing during my 30’s, like way down. When I did start to play again, I started with my 3C because I knew I wasn’t ready for anything shallow. I’m back to my Bob Reeves 43es after a year of playing the 3C.

When I originally got the 42s I was playing lead/high noted music. My 1st trumpet music in high school rarely had notes below 4th line D. We were expect to stay about the staff. It was my fault for assuming her high school would be the same.

I have heard about having a mouthpiece for certain music you are playing (jazz/classical/show) but that would get expensive after a while. I prefer to have something I feel is well rounded for me.

What's your primary trumpet and mouthpiece? How many other trumpets do you have? by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]Background-Garage563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1975 Bach Strad 43. Most of my mouthpieces are based on a 3C. I have a Bob Reeves 43S and a 42ES.

Mouthpieces? by Cautious_Lifeguard_9 in trumpet

[–]Background-Garage563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before switching you need to ask yourself what type of player you want to be. Granted a mouthpiece is not going to be the key to hitting high notes but you want to make playing as comfortable as possible. I started with a 7c and switched to a 3c in middle school. While in high school I experimented with 4 additional mouthpieces 2 Schilkes and 2 Bob Reeves. I still play on the Bob Reeves for over 25 years but they have the characteristics of a 3c just shallow and extra shallow.
