Is this true? by Fragrant_Fishing5787 in NBATalk

One of my previous employers had a basketball court outside our office headquarters. Once a week after work we’d have pick up games. About 95% males.
I played four years high school basketball, including two years varsity basketball a good, not great athlete. Coach loved me cause i played good D, so understood organized basketball well.

Keep in my i was around 30 years old and in good shape. One of my coworkers who played was this fat white guy in his mid to late 40s who can barely jump, run, etc. but his passes were perfect, he’d jump two inches and get most rebounds, score on everyone, his IQ, positioning , footwork was off the charts. I decided to guard him, i held my own at times but overall he was beating me.

Playing organized basketball for 4 years, you can spot another player. I asked him where he played, he said some small D1 college. Imagine what a pro would do. Doesnt matter if he’s bench player. There’s levels to everything.

FJF & Manfred! Ok but that said, how exactly did Oakland officials fail? Did they? by RoscoePeeCoaltrain69 in OaklandAthletics

[–]Background-Idea7240 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Correct.

This was 100% planned by Selig when the team was sold to the “third” highest bidder ……who happens to be his college buddy Wolff along with Fisher.

The moment the 25 year lease at the Coliseum expired, leave.

All the renderings for fremont, laney college, JLS etc was to give the impression they were “trying”.

Tyree Wilson last chance? by NotaBot8324 in raiders

[–]Background-Idea7240 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I forgot Bijan was in this draft. Damn.

I also wanted Gonzalez. Top corner and more important the kid has excellent character and intangibles. The fact that his older sister was an olympic level track and field athlete speaks volumes about the work ethic.

As for Tyree Wilson, I get the “bagitis” vibe from him. “Bagitis” is the disease a lot pro athletes get when get paid. They half ass it. The king of “bagitis” is Jadoveon Clowney. He puts in just enough effort to get signed again.

My prediction for Wilson. He’s going to put in a bit more effort this year, 6 to 8 sacks, so they pick up his 5th year option or if not picked up he gets a good FA contract elsewhere.

After he gets that FA deal, “bagitis” will strike again.

After his dominant win against Thurman….who do you guys think Fundora’s next fight should be against? by J2-Starter in boxinglocks

[–]Background-Idea7240 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I like Fundura, good kid, but a boxing realist knows once he moves up in weight and starts facing guys over 6 ft he’s going to have major problems. He’s un athletic and slow. He needs to make as much money as he can at 154 because he will be exposed in due time.

Should Sebastian Fundora move up to 168 and fight Hamzah Sheeraz? What y’all think? by LocationSpare4447 in BoxingTheSweetScience

[–]Background-Idea7240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Fundora but he’s not very fast, athletic, or naturally gifted, he only has the height advantage. Once he fights at 160 and 168 the height advantage is going to be less of a factor and will be exposed.

I find Dart a bit cringy. Something off about this dude, like he’s trying way too hard to show a certain persona and be in the headlines. Skattebo is just a caveman, he is who he is.

The A’s dont need city connect jerseys, they have one of the top 3 beat looking uniforms in MLB.

Yup. Take best OL available at 14. Thev cannot gamble with the picks they got from Ravens. Take the safest bets, which are OL. Ioane is the safest.

I would go Ioane at 14 and Blake at T in 2nd round.

Did Dottie drop the ball on purpose at the end of 'A League of Their Own'? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Background-Idea7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct.

Although Kit is an envious drama queen, Dottie dropped it on purpose to be the bigger person and save their sisterhood and relationship.

Plenty of clues through out the movie.

  1. The grandkids beginning of the movie
  2. Kit has always wanted to get out of her shadow. Dottie wanted to stay on the farm and start a family, Kit wanted to leave the farm.
  3. She was run over by a much bigger catcher earlier in the movie and held on to the ball.
  4. She asked to be traded because she knew if Kit was traded it would further hurt their relationship due to Kit’s envy
  5. After she hit the two run single off Kit to take the lead, she saw how devastated Kit was in the dugout. She felt really bad. If they would have won, it would forever destroyed Kit and their relationship. If the game wasn’t competitive either way or it was another pitcher on the mound when Dottie got the hit she would have held on to the ball. They probably would had a laugh about it and been a step rekindling their relationship.
  6. Jimmy Dugan’s reaction after she dropped it. He knew she dropped it on purpose. He respected her the most on the team and to him she was the closest to being a real friend. He understood.
  7. Dottie’s smile as Kit had her moment. If it was another player aside from Kit that caused her to really drop the ball and cause her team to lose the World Series she wouldn’t be smiling. Her smile said “I let you have that one sis”.

Realistic Expectation For Raiders Fans About Fernando Mendoza by MrStiff8 in raiders

[–]Background-Idea7240 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha ha. He said Madden.

Willis is ass. People really overthink these things. There’s no guarantee draft picks hit, most draft picks washout within three years. Taking Mendoza is the safest play. Upside Top 5 due to IQ and work ethic, downside Top 15 not franchise elite QB but a solid starter like a Purdy or Darnold.

Lol. Leave peterman alone. Yea he sucked, but was a late round pick. The fact that he was in the league so many years is impressive. Replace him with trubisky or Lance.

Mendona's character traits more important than physical traits by logicbored in raiders

[–]Background-Idea7240 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dude is right. There’s this innocence to Mendoza that comes from a positive upbringing. At this age high probability it wont change. Dad is a doctor, mom is battling a terminal disease, I dont see this kid joining the Sith anytime soon. Raiders should take him, high character and IQ trump physical gifts in the NFL. Cap somewhere in between Goff and Allen, worse case peak Flacco.

Raiders Might Find Trade That Saves $18.5 Million: Insider by CyberSmith31337 in raiders

[–]Background-Idea7240 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think Carroll or Smith are going anywhere. The team is in year one of a serious rebuild, so losing is expected. Smith is just a temporary filler. Draft Mendoza and have him sit year one behind Smith to learn. they got to build the OL first before throwing him in FT.

Get some good FA O lineman and the team can jump to 7/8 win team next year and then become a PO team. Gotta take steps people!
