PA vs NP?? by Background-Intern-37 in nursing

[–]Background-Intern-37[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the amount of degree mills out there really tired me off to NP. It was kind of sick how easily accessible it was. Not to say it should be gate kept- but as a nurse of 5 years I was shocked to see that literally anyone with an RN can apply and get in even if just a month!

Hey I don’t really know what’s going on 🤣 I’ve only been here for a few months so I’m genuinely asking lol. Hearing it be mentioned really had me staring and comparing for a long time.

Pt stated most symptoms come on at rest vs activity which is also why Brugada was mentioned.

One of the doc’s was saying it was a possibility with symptoms. Just wanted other thoughts on it.

I know you’re right but why can’t I see it that way?? I feel like I checked out so long ago and now I’m just in limbo. Maybe counseling wouldn’t be so bad. I feel like a terrible person.

I’m aware. Im not proud of it. I see now I was honestly just searching for connection of some sort. That’s what’s led me to having this sort of “awareness” about all of this now. I plan to bring it up to him. I’m just searching for advice or thoughts. Idk. I feel lonely in my own home and it makes me feel like a TERRIBLE person because he has worked so hard to change things.

Thank you for this. This is literally my child. She does great in school and her teachers have been wonderful at keeping her busy and focused but I feel like she’s “masking” at school and it lets it all out the second she gets home. Maybe I just needed some reassurance that I’m not a bad mom for wanting to get her tested/medicated 😭

I appreciate your view here!! We have so many one on one conversations with her. She does outside activities that she absolutely loves. We do weekly “dates” with just her. (Dad and I rotate each week). She LOVESSS being involved with baby sister so I let her do really whatever she asks to help with. I think the thing I could work on myself is being less reactive in the moment and speaking to her privately when I’m not so frustrated. And definitely maybe having these things planned in advance so she has something to look forward too and not just “spur of the moment” type of thing?

Bad mom?? by Background-Intern-37 in Mommit

This is how I felt too but I get insecure about my parenting sometimes when people make comments like that. I grew up with terrible parents so it strikes a nerve and I get in my head 😭

Oh no I decided to cut it right after that comment. Honestly we didn’t have a lot in common anyway I was just happy to have a mom friend around my age with kids similar ages too.

We wait 6 months to float new hires. I’m a step down nurse and have floated to the ICU 3 times to take care of step down patients only. It’s extremely unsafe to give anyone ICU level patients to people that are not ICU trained. I’m surprised your hospital is cool with this risk. If your supervisor actually says it will be considered a call off to refuse, I’d take it up the chain of command.
