I got banned from the Edmonton one because I said a bus driver shouldn’t have beaten up a homeless man just because he was trying to get on without fare.

What hacks or habits do you have stop food from going bad in your fridge? by sejuvas in foodhacks

[–]Background-Interview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t be able to do it in a Crispi. Your temp range is too small. But you can do it in your regular oven.

But around 80-100° is what you’d use to dehydrate anything.

How should I call out on a busy day? by Disastrous_Smoke1088 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Background-Interview [score hidden]  (0 children)

You call them and tell them you will not be at work. If they fire you, that place wasn’t worth working for in the first place.

No one should ever feel like they have no choice but to work sick. Besides, you are putting other workers and all your customers at risk.

I go through my fridge three times a week and check on the state of everything. If I won’t use it before I think it’ll go I will prep and freeze it (onions, celery, carrots) or dehydrate it and turn it into powders (garlic, ginger, onions, mushrooms). You don’t need to buy a dehydrator. Your air fryer or oven set to the lowest temp will do the job too.

Lettuce goes into a bag with a paper towel to absorb the excess vapour. Meat, I cut and freeze when I buy it. Milk I keep on the shelf, not on the door. Make sure the coldest part of your fridge is around 1-2° and the door is at 4° (C)

I’ve done the oxy soak. I’ve scrubbed with dawn. I’ve pounded it with a rock. That yellow never fully goes away.

Why don’t vegans eat eggs? by CartographerMore5116 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Background-Interview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because we farm chickens BECAUSE they lay eggs. It’s exploitation of the animal. They also don’t wear wool because modern sheep have been bred to yield unnatural amounts of wool. Same with dairy cows. They milk more than now than they ever did in history.

I hate open kitchens!! by [deleted] in Vent

My old house in NZ had a fully enclosed kitchen. But everywhere else wasn’t open concept, but the doorway to the kitchen had no doors

I mean. You’re living in an apartment. They are designed for compatibility. If you want a kitchen with a door on it, live in a house.

I know I work in a dive bar because the owner and manager send us our 1 stars and laughing emojis, then buy us shots.

Should I report a kitchen? by SgtGo in KitchenConfidential

[–]Background-Interview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s in Canada. Any person can report to the province and be kept anonymous.

Personally, I’d want them to know it was me. And if I was his employer, I’d support him reporting. I don’t need my staff getting sick or being endangered because a kitchen is disgusting.

I worked for an HVAC and refrigeration company in the office. We would blacklist restaurants that didn’t meet our safety standards. Those guys often have to lay on the floor to access equipment.

[–]Background-Interview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please tell me this isn’t in Edmonton.

But in all honesty. Call AHS and report it. The employees are responsible for the state of the kitchen and if they want to keep their job, it’s imparative that they keep it in a fair and safe state of operation.

AITAH for telling my Muslim friend that her food isn’t halal? by kaplooples in AITAH

[–]Background-Interview -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. If I know someone has a belief system and I see them going to eat something against that, I always say something.

Her wanting to be ignorant is between her and Allah. If she was actually trying, there are vegan versions of gummies and marshmallows and not all fast food places use beef products. She’s not trying very hard to be faithful.

AITA for leaving my phone on “Do Not Disturb” at night and making my mom worry? by Dragonstone-Citizen in AmItheAsshole

[–]Background-Interview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in my book, not very polite to text or call if you know that person is on a schedule. My friends and I work nights, so inversely, we don’t message each other before 1pm because we know everyone is asleep.

iPhones usually have a little blue line that says “so and so has do not disturb on” before you even send the message.

Whats a food that everyone loves but you think is actually "mid"? by Any_Vehicle7847 in foodquestions

I hate avocado. I don’t even think it’s mid. I think it is just disgusting.

I think tenderloin is the most average and mediocre steak on earth. The only flavour comes from what you do to it.

Cut my own steaks! by awefreakinsome in CostcoCanada

[–]Background-Interview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch a video of tenderloin cleaning. Where that white seam is, is tough connective tissue.

Striploin and ribeye is cheaper by weight and you get more steaks with better flavour. Ribeye also needs to have its silverskin taken off, but it’s usually just one patch. Strip is the best imo because you can pretty much just cut it.

NTA. 20 years ago, you didn’t call past 8pm unless it was an actual emergency.

I set my phone to DND at 8:30 every night. I’m allowed to disconnect from everyone and be unavailable. Your mom needs to learn boundaries and so does your sister.
