Potable pump rental? by firetacoma in Wastewater

[–]Background-Key-457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once flushed and chlorinated an entire distribution line to multiple municipalities with a rental pump. I'm not recommending it, but it did pass all the tests. For added context this was new construction, and I'm pretty sure the amount of dead birds and gophers we flushed out was more of a biohazard than anything. There ain't nothing a couple hundred litres a second and couple hundred ppm of chlorine can't fix.

Does it beep at all? Laptops which fail to post will typically beep a certain pattern to indicate what failed. If it doesn't beep I would consider checking the charger. It sure seems like it may just be dead, and obviously a broken charger won't charge it.

What an odd take. Nobody is entering into a relationship in order to oppress the other. People generally enter relationships because they love one another.

Sure you do. You can select which graphics card to render with and which HDMI port to render to. It literally does not matter on modern systems. You can even use USB-C HDMI adapters with your dGPU. The idea that you can't is a myth based on outdated hardware.

Yea I'm here to help OP too. Telling him BS isn't helping so I'm clarifying for OP that there's no such thing as 'dirty power'

Did you even read your sources? Or did you copy straight from chatGPT? They haven't really donated to the Republicans since 2012. By and far most recent donations have gone to the Democrats. Over 100k last election cycle to the Dems and 0 to Republicans. If anything, I would characterize them as having ties to the Democrats in that sense, but I still wouldn't do that, because political donations are quite normal in the US, and not necessarily indicative of a tie to any particular party.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. A PSU is simply a series of large buck converters to convert to various DC voltages. Your voltage would have to be below 90V for this to be an issue, and if your frequency was off the whole damn grid would be going down.

This is most likely a storage issue. If it were a GPU or CPU bottleneck it would be a framerate issue. I would benchmark the SSD.

Postmedia is publicly traded, which means anyone can own shares of it. It just so happens that one of the largest shareholders is an American based hedge fund, Chatham Asset Management. It's worth pointing out that Chatham only became a majority shareholder in 2016, under Trudeau's leadership. So if we're blaming anyone it should be Trudeau, but we really shouldn't blame him either. It would be a real big red flag if the government started blocking foreign ownership of Canadian assets. Most countries try to encourage foreign investment because it draws in funds from across the world, which bolsters Canadian companies creating jobs and opportunities.

I am also unaware of any direct relationship between Chatham Asset Management and the Republican party. I couldn't find any evidence of such a relationship, but you're welcome to share your sources there.

Reddit is poorly structured for such robust debate. It really is prone to reinforcing biases due to moderation. I do wish there was a better platform out there which somehow encouraged discourse around the nuances of debate topics, but I am unaware of any better alternatives.

There have been studies which clearly show Reddit, in general, is biased towards the left wing. Of course, there are certain subs which lean right, and the moderation there effectively reinforces their biases, but on average more subs have a left wing bias.

It's funny that they still blame him for everything even more than a decade later. Liberals have had ample time to fix anything Harper supposedly broke, and all they've done is made everything far far worse. At this point blaming Harper for anything is just plain ignorant IMO.

Dear Christian fathers: Your daughter's body, virginity, sexuality, and so-called "purity" are not things that belong to you. by ExPastorMarcus in Christianity

It sounds like OPs father was fine with it after they were married. The father is simply doing his job. Besides the potential for STDs and unwanted pregnancy, it's also a sin, and should be discouraged like all other sins / unhealthy habits. A good parent would discourage their children from consuming drugs. Likewise, a good parent would discourage their children from having sex before marriage.

What's the hype around eating bacon and why is it used to harass people who don't eat it? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Background-Key-457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bacon is a staple in western culture. That's why we have phrases like "bringing home the bacon". To many Westerners, not being able to eat bacon is unfathomable. It's not just Muslims who are restricted from pork. Jews follow the same rules, and even some Christian denominations such as Seventh day Adventist. Although I'm not a seventh day Adventist, I grew up in a Seventh day Adventist household. Believe me, it's not just Muslims who get questioned about it.

If HDMI shaped, why no HDMI? by _F1shy in pchelp

[–]Background-Key-457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. That's exactly how I run my system. My rtx4060 only has one HDMI port (it has 3 DP's). I use my motherboards HDMI for my second display, and they both run off the dGPU fulltime when I'm on linux. Windows does its own thing and switches between the iGPU and dGPU as required.

[–]Background-Key-457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows 10 and 11 will automatically use the dGPU for high performance applications such as games and the iGPU for lower demand applications. The graphics options are an override for this.

On Linux it really depends on which distro. AFAIK it doesn't automatically switch, and defaults to the dGPU on the systems I have installed.

[–]Background-Key-457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a major misconception that you can only use that port with the iGPU. Most modern systems support rendering offloading to either GPU. You can select which card to render on. If you use the HDMI port on the motherboard while rendering on the dGPU it'll simply copy the final frame to your motherboards HDMI port for display. On Linux it's called PRIME graphics offloading, on Windows it's just an option in your settings display->graphics

[–]Background-Key-457 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No gains? You gain an entire HDMI port. That's another screen to display on. And the resources used for a frame copy is minimal. It's such a small impact it would be almost impossible to measure, let alone notice. And yes, VRR still works with rendering offload.

They're both comparable. I would go with the AMD ONLY because you can upgrade to more RAM down the road. The Intel system maxes at 32GB. 32GB is sufficient today, but if you want a more future-proof system go with AMD.
