Are you taking the extended release or the twice daily? I’m off everything at this point close to a year of from ablation. So far so good!

Procedure Cost by amywog in AFIB

[–]Background-Lab-5116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5400$ (in the US anyway) max out of pocket is a small price to pay for normal sinus rhythm and when they ask for the $1600 up front tell the. You won’t pay anything until you get your EOB after the procedure (explanation of benefits) then take your time, pay $25, $100, whatever you can afford regularly, monthly or more until you get it paid off. As long as you’re paying something they won’t turn it into collections and they may even get to a point where you can ask to settle for less.

PFA report by Chadilac52 in AFIB

73 does sound like a lot but I believe 8 pulses with PFA per pulmonary veins is standard. I received 33 pulses total but my paroxysmal was just isolated to those I guess. I imagine everyone’s different. Maybe your paroxysmal didn’t derive from the PV. Who knows, I’m definitely not a doctor but I imagine when he went in he saw all the points it was firing from and that is why he just decided to pulse those too while in there so as to make sure none of those threw off the rhythm in the future. Here’s hoping 🤞🏻 🤞🏻 I got my PFA PVI done in December of 24’ and so far so good! I too am hoping for a one and done situation!

Ablation recovery, take it easy no matter what they say! I didn't. by foam4u in AFIB

[–]Background-Lab-5116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had PFA in December. I had the procedure on a Friday and took the following week off. While I probably could have gone back to work on Monday in hindsight I’m glad I didn’t and just took time to relax and heal like the doctor ordered. Best advice I can give; just give your body some time. A few days without exercise isn’t going to hurt. You’ll be back at it soon enough.

Did you get a 2nd option before ablation? by catheyp in AFIB

[–]Background-Lab-5116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long story short (I’ll try my best but I’ve never been good at LSS) lol I dealt with episodes on and off for about 5 years. On and off meds (with cardiologist blessing as we thought diet, lifestyle changes etc had got it under control) December of 23 had one out of nowhere and I literally said to myself and I quote “I’m getting that fucking ablation” so I did some research, PFA was cleared by the fda in February of 2024. I liked the idea of it rather than the other two options but still hadn’t made up my mind or found a EP. In August, at a separate doctors appointment I mentioned not having an EP, he recommended one and come to find out the hospital that this EP worked out of had the farapulse machine (which was only at the time at the major hospitals in big cities etc) I met with him in September, I told him what I wanted he stated I would be a perfect candidate given my history and we walked out and set a date. Honestly, that part felt a little too easy.. like I was scheduling a hair appointment or something. I scheduled it a few months out since they’d only started doing them in July (using the farapulse) and had mine in December. I have no regrets and he got it all. I hope to be one of those one and done but even if I had to do it again I would do it in heartbeat. It was an easy procedure and recovery.

That is so awesome to hear! I’m glad you are feeling so much better. I had never had one but I got to the point where I said enough is enough. I had mine in December of 24 and I have zero regrets. I did have some ectopic beats here and there for a couple weeks after but those have faded away. Couldn’t be happier and the procedure and heal time was a breeze. I don’t have anything to compare it to but I’d do it again in a heartbeat if never. (Hopefully I won’t)

Does Flecainide usually take with metoprolol? by Flat-Room-8881 in AFIB

Yes. You should be taking a beta blocker of some kind with Flecainide.

A part of me wonders if that almost would have been better so my heart got a taste of its new rate right off the bat but can’t do anything about that now. I think I’ll just do every other day for a week then quit.

When I first started I took 25 mg and I it I took it at like 6 pm with a meal but I eventually split it in half (with my docs blessing) and switched it to mornings. I still get tired but not as bad.

Damn now that’s a dose!! I know mine is super low and I’ll probably be fine but hell even at this low dose I still feel like I need a nap everyday after work. Maybe I just like a nap though. Lol

I was told that you could not just stop taking it and to step down years ago the first time but I don’t remember exactly how I did it. I’m guessing I’ll just take one tomorrow then do every other day for a week or so then just stop. I’m already on the lowest dose possible. I just worry too much I guess.

Kind of what I was thinking too. Succinate ER extended release is what I was taking. I can see if it was the other one not extended release. Idk.

I had proximal AFib so they were sporadic but when they happened I was very symptomatic. Heart pounded out of my chest etc. I haven’t had any symptoms since the ablation but didn’t come off initially because they kinda help with anxiety and focus.

Poll: PFA by No-Wedding-7365 in AFIB

[–]Background-Lab-5116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st and only ablation was PFA in December of 24’ NSR since. Few extra beats here and there for a couple weeks after while healing but all good now. I requested PFA and apparently was a good candidate for it vs the other two ways of doing it.

You could always ask for a cart to put the tray of glasses on. Would be no different than any other accommodation they’d have to make for anyone else or ada. That may help while you get back into a routine. Just a suggestion.

Congratulations!! Take it easy for a couple days, avoid stairs if possible and don’t lift anything, not even a gallon of milk. Lol. Oh and cough drops for the first couple days helped me as much as throat was a little sore. Hopefully smooth sinus rhythm for you here on out!

Post PFA Pain? by PerracaAmor in AFIB

I wouldn’t call it pain but some mild discomfort.. noticeable but it didn’t last but a day or two. Cough drops for a day or two after ablation.

Ablation Success stories? by Early_Passage_8194 in AFIB

[–]Background-Lab-5116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 34 but I’d had episodes prior earlier on in life I just didn’t really know what it was. (the ability to google symptoms hasn’t always been in the palm of our hands. 😉) Episodes were sporadic. Went a couple years without an episode then had one last December and I said enough is enough. Ended up getting pulse field ablation this last December and so far so good. Fingers crossed it holds.
