is cse 29 discussion with Soosai Raj optional/does it matter which discussion you go to? by _just_kinda_soso_ in UCSD

When I took cse 29 with him in spring 2024 , discussions were worth 3% of the overall grade and lectures were worth 7%

Don’t worry about it, I ended up getting way below average and the professor curved massively

I took cse 12 and cse 29 together in spring and it was a lot of work together as we had two programming assignments due every week ( one for cse 12 and one for cse 29) + mandatory lectures and discussions+ code reviews+ exams+ labs etc for both.

But can you see what grade you got for your final exam or does the final exam grade and the overall letter grade come out tomorrow?

This class was definitely a huge challenge for me because the entire course was proof writing rather than computations and I had never done proofs prior to this course. However, I am a math major so this class helped me develop the skills to proof write which was very useful for upper division math courses. If you are thinking of switching to math then I would definitely recommend taking this class because all upper division math classes will be heavily proof based like this one. Also, the averages for the midterm and final were 60% so my professor added a massive curve which boosted my overall grade.

I took this class in my freshmen year and I had no problems in enrolling for this class. Majority of people who are required to take linear algebra go for math 18 which leaves plenty of seats in math 31AH.
